Hello. And today we are going to be talking about two more episodes of season 2 of The Clone Wars, episodes 20 and 21.

And also Tales of the Jedi Episode 2. But as we do before we do anything Jon, I've got a tasty beer here.

I was at the grocery store and I did not see it again. So I'm hoping that it isn't just like a fly by night thing.

And that's going to be our game lately. I think slowly moving up the percentage charts as we've continued this podcast.

For those of you real quick that don't know this podcast and just maybe listening for the first time,

basically we're going through all of Star Wars from a certain date about two years ago.

All the canon that was already released. We're going through it in BBY order.

And tonight we are at season two of The Clone Wars. We're almost done. I looked at it today.

We are only actually one episode away from completing season two, which is kind of cool. Season two. Yeah. Season two.

I take your milestones where you can. Sure. But yeah. My God. Yeah. It'll be nice to at least go to like the next line on Disney+ Plus where it's season three.

But it's a little bit progress. Tonight we're going to record. We're going to be recording.

We're going to be talking about episodes twenty four and five.

In 21, Death Trap and R2 comes home.

Let's start off with the old Death Trap, Jon.

So a neat concept.

Now, here's the question. Here's the question.

Okay. Have we seen, in Clone Wars,

have we seen Boba before?

My memory's terrible, so I don't trust it.

Yes, we saw young Boba.

Yeah. I believe sometime in season one.

He was just a kid and it wasn't anything.

Where did we see? No, no. It was a comic, wasn't it?

I remember the comic. That's why I'm asking the question.

Because I remember the comic.

You're completely right.

And the comic is how I knew who this was immediately.

Like, that's Boba. I mean, that's Boba.

Yeah. And also the people that he's,

the Bosk and all the other bounty hunters that he's with.

Well, no, I mean right up front when he's just part

of the clone field trip, whatever that was.

You know, you have all the clones and then him.

I did not catch that at first.

His hair kind of set him apart.

It does. If they had shaved his head

like all the other troopers, no, of course not,

because he's just a clone.

But the fact that he looked exactly like Boba

from the comics, I knew who it was.

Yeah. No, you're right.

I remember I realized it a little bit into that episode,

what we were dealing with, but when he became standoffish

and the other kids were kind of poking fun at him.

But yeah, it took me a second. I didn't realize it initially.

Which I think is how it was meant to play, right?

It was meant to play like that.

And the fact that we have prior knowledge of the comic

and we know what.

Here's Rogue Three for a little loop.

I bet that comic was actually made after this.

It may be. That's my point.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's actually my point.

Oh, okay. I got you.

You're saying that we had an advantage had we not watched it.

Yeah. Okay. Fair enough. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah.

It did not dull my surprise just because I didn't get it.

It did dull your surprise a little bit or did you?

No, no, no. It was fine.

It did not dull the, no, it didn't dull the edge.

I thought it was still good.

You're still thinking, is that Boba?

I bet that's Boba. I think it's Boba.

Oh, it's Boba. I mean, it's still there.

So the revelation is still good.

To the point where when he first saw Mace

and then Anakin came up and he makes this like,

oh, I hate you face.

I wasn't really sure it was Boba at that point.

And so I was wondering, why is he not like the Jedi?

Well, okay. We know now, but it was good.

Yeah. A little journey there.

Yeah. The episode, I thought him blending in

was pretty cool with the rest of the clones.

It's a great concept. It is. It is.

It's a great concept. Yeah. That was really good.

And then also too, the fact that they're asking him

all these questions and he's like, oh no,

I was in another, you know, in the North Rim or something.

Like he says something to where I was thinking

that you guys wouldn't know me

just because I was somewhere else.

And he's gotta kind of prove that out a little bit.

And I enjoyed the gunning scene too,

where they're all practicing the targets.

Yeah. Right.

And again, at that point I knew it was Boba.

So I know what's gonna happen.

He's gonna, you know, blow it out of the water,

I guess the thing.

But anyway, it shows that he's,

there's more to him than you think, right?

Yeah, totally.

And also too, I thought that it was kind of cool

that the captain and then the gunner

were just kind of both amazed too.

Like you could tell it was like,

it was supposed to be, you know,

you knew it was gonna be astonishment,

but they were just like, whoa, whoa, whoa,

what is going on here?

Like this kid is like the real deal.

We need to keep an eye on him.

Right. Yeah. It was good.

It was a good episode overall.

Quick summary, it's just a young boy

wages against the Jedi Knights

who left him orphaned, bitter and alone.

Of course, we're talking about Boba Fett

who makes Windu chop his dad's head off

and it rolled in a helmet that we'll see later.

And yeah, I thought it was good.

I thought that the Mace walking,

almost walking into the laser was kind of cool.

And how he got, you know, kind of backtracked

and the other guy walked into it and got blown apart.

Oh, I felt bad.

I mean, it's like,

just all you do is walk away and say,

here, put this in my quarters.

Oh man, now you gotta kill the guy.

Well, also too, the,

so I guess, you know,

Jedi aren't infallible by any means,

but like, I kind of felt like

he would have like detected something.

I don't know.

It was just kind of a weird,

cause he, cause remember- I wondered that.

He walks by the kid, he walks by Boba going there.

And you're like, does The Force not show you

something's not right here?

I thought it was just, you know, force sensitive to force.

Yeah. Yeah. And that's true.

And Boba's not, they wouldn't know him

from any other clone, like from a force perspective.

Fair enough.

Yeah. Yeah.

That's a good point.

That's actually a really good point.

I like that.

That he's just another, to them,

he's just another clone because he's only,

he's only a son to Jango.

So yeah. Okay.

Fair enough.

That's a good point.

What other aspects of the show did you like?

Not like?

The one part I really despised was

they're in the escape pod.

And first of all,

all you have to do is hit a button to like disable the thing.

That's, that's just bad design.

I'm sorry.

But the button he hits pops open like the,

the weather veins, the atmosphere veins,

and the pod starts, you know, yawing back and forth.

You're in space, dude.

Okay. There's nothing for the veins to catch on,

but they can bounce back.

It was portrayed as in atmosphere and they weren't.

They were out in space.

Yeah, I agree with that.

And also, too, it was, yeah, like,

how does he know exactly what to pop open to just to stop or not stop?

I guess I shouldn't say stop.

And he not stops and he lets it keep going.

And that's how they end up kind of out in the out near the Slave One.

I didn't like the whole like where he's like, I couldn't get a drift

where he's like, I'm sorry, guys, like when he ever he leaves them there.

I'm like, you hated these kids like 20 minutes ago.

You know what I mean?

Like, like I wonder where that was going.

Are you are they trying to start the character arc with him?

I didn't buy it.

Yeah, I agree with you.

It was a little it would have been better

if he had basically just screwed you kids, you know, I'm not here.

Yeah, no, totally. Yeah, I mean, the Boba Fett that we've seen thus far,

especially the one from the comic, too.

I'm surprised he didn't just unload on him and shoot him

and then be like, OK, I'm here. You know what I mean?

Like that little kid in Enslave one when they were chasing Obi-Wan, right?

And oh, yeah, Clone Wars, he was like, hey, hang on, son.

We'll move into the asteroid field

and we'll have a couple of surprises for you.

I mean, it was he should have been much more cold blooded.

Yeah, and that was that was really with me.

And I think you're probably right that they are trying to start

a little bit of an arc with him there, because, well, I don't know.

Let's talk. Let's talk about the next episode, though.

Yeah, well, let's talk about the next episode, though,

because I didn't really see that in the next episode.

So the next episode, not at all.

Yeah, it was R2, R2 come home, I think is what it was called.

And basically the captain of the ship.

OK, so first off in the first episode, episode 20 that we're reviewing tonight,

the ship goes down. He succeeds in destroying the ship.

So if there's anything to say, Boba Fett at age whatever he is,

nine or ten in this thing, literally took down a destroyer,

like a destroyer, but a destroyer class starship for the clone troopers.

So I mean, it's there's a little bit of a win either way,

even if he doesn't get his guy, Mace.

But basically the ship comes down in the end of the episode.

And then we start episode 21, which is R2 come home.

And he the ship has crashed.

Massive, massive crash. Huge ship on on the planet.

There's Gundarks running around.

Anakin and Mace decide to go down and make sure that the captain made it down

because the captain was like, I'm not getting off the ship.

So him and a couple of other navigation people, I think is what they call him.

And then another leadership person are supposedly still in the bridge.

And Anakin and Mace go to find them.

And they end up finding out that they've all been shot.

That's that's well, the troopers have been shot.

Yeah, I'm sorry. Yeah, take that back.

The leadership has not been shot.

Just the troopers have been shot and they can't find the leadership.

Right. Within all this, Mace sees Jango's helmet sitting there,

which I don't understand how it's perfectly positioned after a huge crash,

sitting there on top of a table.

And then, well, actually, I take that back because I guess that the bounty

hunters were already on the planet waiting for the ship

or had already been there to the ship before.

So that's why they said it there.

And they pick up Jango's helmet and it blows up.

And the very last minute, Anakin is holding the helmet.

Mace grabs him, throws him down.

They end up going down this like couple of flights of stairs,

or a couple of flights of stairs, couple of flights of flooring

and have this huge trash pile pretty much pile up on top of them

and they can't escape.

So R2 has to go help them out. That's the premise of the episode. Right.

And I love the parts with R2 when he's,

the ship's all wrecked.

And so he does a good job of trying to block the guy,

the bounty hunters from getting to Mace and Anakin.

And so they're bad guys are climbing up this like, you know,

elevator shaft or something.

And it shows R2 kind of pushing a bunch of boxes over to the open

door to the shaft and pushing the boxes into the shaft to try and,

you know, hit those guys and kill them.

And it was just that that was that was hilarious.

And then when the the you called him a Gundark, right?

It was Gundark. I should have known that.

Yeah. Yeah. I just, you know, like the one from the cave, like a couple of Dooku.

Yeah. When he when when he's trying to kill R2,

because one of them had already killed Mace's droid.

We need to talk about that, by the way.

What is Mace's problem with droids?

What is Mace's problem overall in this entire episode?

So like like he was just like, like I have in my notes,

like Mace is just kind of a dick in this episode.

Like he's not he like even Anakin. He's not like.

Yeah, it's it's very different than the Mace that we saw

the last episode where he's kind of like almost ready to teach the kids.

You know, he's like, welcome to ship.

We'll figure, you know, what you need to do,

how well you guys can help us with, et cetera, et cetera.

And then this Mace is just like, I guess he's just mad

that the ship crashed or that the ship's gone

and they've lost all this stuff on their watch.

But yeah, he was just really like something.

There's something there about I don't know, like like hate leads to anger,

leads to fear, leads to like, come on, Mace.

Like and he's and he's grumpy at his droid.

He's grumpy at R2, Anakin's droid.

And then so my other note that I have was, A, the Gundarks

that I really enjoyed seeing the big ships crash.

Like I enjoyed that aspect that they do in Star Wars all the time,

where they have these massive ships that just crash on a plane

and you see like these panoramas of the whole like

like massive, like couple mile wide scene.

You see the ship crash.

But also, too, I said that this episode should just be a little bit more.

been called R2 just throwing s***.

Because like probably about 10 to 15 minutes of this episode

was him just throwing stuff down a pipe

that people were trying to climb up.

Well that and then and then when the when the kitty attacks

and he puts the suction cup cord thing on.

Yeah. Yeah. On him on the kitty

and then puts the other end on the fighter

and launches the fighter you know like just way off that way

and it makes the yoink sound.

Yeah. That was that was I'm sorry that was hilarious.

That was cheesy. It was hilarious.

It was it was good. I enjoyed that part of it

and I actually also enjoyed the fact that R2 is you know

he's piloting this craft to try to lose Slave One

and he just ends up going to warp and he just flies out.

He's just like all right guys gotta go.

And you know he ends up going back to Coruscant

and alerting the other Jedi that they need help

that Mace and Anakin need help.

They're buried under rubble stuff like that.

But I don't know I just kind of found it funny

that he was just like all right well if we're gonna go

we're gonna go because I've lost my antenna.

So let's pick one of these two you know

what do they call the Jedi starfighter.

Something rings Warp ring. Warp ring.

Yes. Maybe.

Hyperspace ring. Hyperspace ring sounds like.

Hyper ring. Yeah. So whatever.

Whatever they don't say warp we know that.

And it's it's cool because R2 is human enough to know

that they're going to fire one of them.

So he's got like he's got like kind of choose

which one he thinks he can do it.

Well he kind of does a little faint towards

and that's the weird thing.

I'm wondering are these rings not interchangeable

because the way that's portrayed in the episode

they're like ways he's I got to pick the one

that he's going for the one that fits his ship.

And so he kind of R2 faints to the other one

which leads Boba to shoot at that one

and then he goes and then R2 goes to the one

that actually is for his ship and they take.

Oh yeah I took it a different way.

I took it as it like he's got to choose one.

We're only gonna have one shot.

I'm gonna hit the right one that he's gonna choose

and then he screws it up.

But I don't know if they're gonna screw it up.

They should be. I mean come on that's just bad engineering.

Bad design all around here.

I agree. I agree with that.

You need to change the parts.

When Slave One is attacking the massive crashed capital ship

always love Slave One's lasers you know.

Beep beep beep beep. That's always fantastic.

The I'm surprised you haven't said anything about the

artwork the rendering in this episode

because this was top notch.

It was it was good. Yeah I agree with that.

And I actually did not have that on my notes

but actually I've gotten to where I kind of expected

in these episodes now.

This was above and beyond.

I'm telling you if I make a note of it

it's something different. It's something special.

It also too like like I talked about

that kind of panoramic view of these massive ships

that have you know hit the ground.

Like you've got it in Episode one.

You know like like you see like Ray

going through these huge ships.

Like I love that a step like I love the fact

that there's these massively engineered things

that have just literally crashed on a planet's gravity

and they're huge.

They're huge and you saw that.

It brings it down to scale. Yeah.

It totally does.

And also too like this one had some really good artwork

on the panoramics when it would Flash back

and show like the entire ship.

You would literally see like birds flying across

like the screen.

And I'm like that's a detail that they didn't have to add

that you know I mean but it's really well done

and it's really like it makes you feel good about it.

I'm going to say that they want to do that

because they want to emphasize scale.

And how do you do that.

You make some birds fly across. Yeah.

Fair enough. Fair enough.

And maybe that's where I'm. Yeah. Yeah.

I agree. I think it's I think the artwork

was really well done for this guy.

And I think that it wasn't just necessarily

necessarily like well done caricatures.

I'm saying like the environments were really good.

All that kind of stuff. But no I agree with you.

And I probably should have mentioned it.

The chase scenes were the chase scenes were fantastic.

Yes they were.

Like I said when Slave 1 lit up the wreckage

of the big capital ship because they were trying

to just kill everybody in there.

It was just fantastic. Yeah it was.

Yeah. And you same thing that you mentioned earlier

with the pew pew pew pew pew pew.

Like you showed the explosions like riddle the ship

like literally like a path of them as it flew by.

Exactly. Exactly. Yeah.

And then also too the other Dward was a really good

Dward was a basis droid R8 RX8 I think.

All right. Yeah. All right. Yeah. All right.

Yeah. And he was he was very well done too.

Like he had different colored buttons I noticed in R2.

Like he had a little bit more color like he had a yellow

and a green button and they made him look a little

bit different. It was kind of neat.

And he's doomed. You know he's doomed.

Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Totally.

And the Gundarks too like like we see them

they're like kind of like a I don't know what you call it.

Not like a not like a not like a like a red coat

or anything from like Star Trek but like they're always

just the generic baddie almost. You know what I mean.

I feel like I feel like we've seen them so many different

times we heard about them in the original trilogy.

It's just like all the Gundarks you know.

So it's just kind of like the when you need a bad guy

you throw you throw you throw these guys in there

and it's also just kind of like how many planets

are these things on.

I thought we saw earlier that they said well

that's a Gundark so that means we're on this planet.

Right. I agree with that. And that was this planet.

I don't think so because that would mean they've crashed

twice into this planet.

And the reason the reason I say that is that this planet

is just riddled with ships is that in that the one

that we the one that we saw Gundarks in earlier

was the Doku.

And it was Anakin and I think it was Obi-Wan get in the fight and they get trapped in the Gundark cave.

And then you remember we went back and read the other perspective of it.

So it was like Dooku's perspective of the whole fight.

So, yeah, and again, it just seemed like and I totally remember and you are correct.

They said, oh, that's a Gundark. We're on this planet.

I totally remember that being said, so I don't know.

It could be the same planet. I just yeah, I don't I don't know.

I doubt it's the same planet, but maybe so. I don't know.

But yeah, that's it's a good that's a good question.

I'm actually going to write that down on my notes and look that up because that's that's a really good kind of like like

sticker point because they said that in the cartoon and Clone Wars, which would have only been last season.

So it's almost like they had to have known that they were going to do that.

You know, it's not it's not like that was coming from a comic that we read, you know, like, you know.

Yeah, it's it's it should be part of this show's Bible.

And so I would hope that they're they're following their own code.

Yeah. And that's going to be interesting if they didn't, just because now I'm kind of like, well,

is there other stuff that we're going to come across that's like not really the same from episode episode.

But all right. You know, you know what I'm going to do?

I want to I want to say so. So I we're pretty sure that this is going to be the third.

The last episode of this season is going to be the arc ender for this arc.

I think we're both in agreement with that, aren't we?

That's what I expect. Yeah. I mean, basically, I don't think they're going to carry that on in the next season

where they kidnapped the captain. They kidnapped the navigation officer and another head leadership guy.

Basically, a Slave One. The bounty hunters take away these three guys and they float off because they don't want to.

They're not waiting for the cavalry to arrive, of course, to rescue the Jedi.

So they're gone. I expect that the next episode is going to be them

flaunting those guys are trying to deliver them to Doku and the Jedi are going after him.

But maybe I could be wrong. Maybe they're hanging on to that for the end of the season.

I'm not sure. But but regardless, we that is one of our next episodes.

So 21 will be on the docket.

Actually, let's do let's do give me a rating for both of these guys separate.

I was going to I was going to say, I was going to say, you know,

let's go separate because Death Trap.

Fine. It's fine. Nothing special.

Probably clocking in around a 74.

OK, I had a little higher. I had 80 just because I thought I was.

I thought it was kind of nice. But six point curve. That's about that's about where we're at usually.

But the next episode, that one's way up.

That is that is seriously I was so impressed with that episode.

I want to say it's it's it's at least an 85, maybe maybe more like an 87, 88.

OK, I was going low 80s. I was going to go 82.

I thought it was better than the first or not better than the first one.

But I'm sorry, it was better than the first one, but for different reasons.

Yeah, OK. Interesting. So I'm lower than you on the second one.

That's that's interesting. That's right. Yeah, that was a really good episode.

I thoroughly enjoyed that. Yeah, it was good. I agree. It was good.

Not as good as Zillabees. I'm comparing everything to Zillabees now.

Yes, you are. I feel like. Well, I think it's like this is the whole Kaiju thing.

Like I just I just I love that. Like just sense of like this thing wreaking havoc and curse on it.

And Palpatine kind of being behind it, but not being behind it. You know, that kind of stuff.

But yeah, they were good. They were good episodes.

I'm eager to see how this arc ends.

And I believe we actually just move directly on to season three for the next one.

So these were good episodes. Maybe we'll do since we've got one more left in this season.

Maybe we'll do three episodes for the next podcast and then also the tales just to get three of them kind of out of the way

and started into the next season, season three. Anything else you want to touch on in those two episodes?

No. All right. I am ready to talk about the next really awesome thing.

Justice Tales of the Jedi, too.

We get and here's my question, because we talked about it earlier.

So for those who don't know, this came out on August 26th of last year, 2022.

It's relatively new. We talked about how we are doing this stuff in canon, but we're also kind of on the side to add a little,

especially during this Clone Wars episodes.

We went through visions and did one episode.

We did one episode of visions for each podcast for about seven podcasts.

And now we're going back through Tales of the Jedi just because they're these short little like 10 to 15 minute.

This one happens to be canon stories, miniature stories, that many stories, many series.

I don't know what you want to call these things.

Vignettes.

But basically these things are just 10 to 15 minutes long.

They're really nice because they give us a little bit of a break, too, because we watch all these Clone Wars in a row

and we get something else to talk about.

So let's talk about this one. Tales of the Jedi Season 1 Episode 2 Justice.

You start us off.

Fantastic. I am loving this series so much.

It was. It was good. It was really good.

Every part of this was fantastic.

From the beginning, you know, with the ship coming into the planet, great atmospherics there, great, great, you know, tension, great atmosphere, great.

Foreboding is not the right word.

I don't know. It was a little foreboding.

I'll give you four.

Is foreboding the word I'm looking for?

It works for me.

Now my question is, did I miss it? Did they say that was Qui-Gon up front?

No, but you know it is.

You know it's Qui-Gon, that's what I'm saying.

So he calls him Master Doku.

So we know for a fact that that is Doku.

Even before that, it looks like Qui-Gon.

It totally is.

It's not Riel Averroes or any of those other people that were under Doku.

This is totally Qui-Gon Jinn.

I don't think that I remember him mentioning him by name though.

It was only at the end of the episode.

I'm pretty sure that was the only time his name was mentioned.

Yeah, and then you got the...

I mean, if you didn't, me and you both knew it was Doku.

So that was really cool.

I love the setting to this.

It was this bleak township where you could believe that the kid that was captured...

By the way, this did come out in August 26 of last year.

We really try not to do spoilers for stuff that's pretty recent.

But on these small series, we actually are talking about it.

So if you don't want to know anything about it, if you want to go watch it fresh, stop here.

But we are going to talk about the actual storyline and where it ends up.

So what I was going to say is, it was so bleak and it was drawn so well.

And the characters were so good that I actually could believe that the Senator's son was like,

I can't believe my dad's doing this.

Well, and they had to do that.

They had to make it as black and white as possible for you to buy that this pampered Senator's son would turn on his dad.

And the Jedi would turn on a Senator.

Yeah, agreed. That's a good call.

It had to be cut and dried.

Of course you're going to take a stand against this jackass.

And then the Senator, he's really making it easy for Doku to kill him.

I'm going to burn this village to the ground.

And I'm going to burn every other village to the ground.

And I'm going to rape all the women.

He didn't say that.

He's making it really, really easy for Doku to say, you know what, no, to snap.

I'm going to cut your head off.

He snaps.

I mean, Doku snaps.

And you see, and that was the best part of this episode for me, is because you see Doku acting admirably by defending the people, the township people.

He's like, no, this is not, we're here to make sure that justice is served.

I mean, the name of the show, or the name of this episode.

But you see him having to be like, I know we didn't come here for you.

We came here because of an injustice.

And I'm going to defend these people.

And then you get even more of a snap, like an actual, oh, this is where the dark Doku comes in.

You know what I mean?

You see him just be like, no, I'm going to choke you right now.

You know what I mean?

And that's when I love the fact that Qui-Gon knew that this could happen and has to very quickly and very intelligently figure out a way to stop it.

And that was the best part of this episode for me.

Okay.

Interesting.

I loved seeing Doku choke the guy out.

That was cool.

And then also, too, the son running out, like Qui-Gon goes and he lets the son go and he's like, you got to go save your dad because he's about to die.

And that's pretty much what he says.

That's literally like, you need to go get your dad because he's about to be dead.

And it's funny because it gives this kind of like evil mentality that Qui-Gon, you're like, well, has Qui-Gon seen other shit?

Like, you know, and Qui-Gon, we talk about on the show, he's one of my favorite characters personally because he's so out there.

And he's so like, I follow these rules, but I also have my own code of ethics, too, that I have to go by.

And Doku, of course, was the same way and then ended up just turning bad because he did not trust the Jedi.

But I enjoyed seeing Qui-Gon and wondering, be like, was this like commonplace whenever him and Doku were going around?

Don't discount The Force.

Could he not sense the darkness building in Doku at that moment?

Yeah.

And then to layer something else in, he must have been somewhat OK with it.

It's not like he's like letting Yoda and all them know about this kind of stuff.

Yeah, sending up the signal flare like, dark, bad Jedi.

He's welcoming it.

And if you flashback, though, to the whole Rael Averroes and all that kind of stuff from the audio book and then the other stuff,

like you kind of see it where Qui-Gon gives him a lot of room.

Like he's just like, because remember, he finds them and I forget what the name of the thing was,

but it was basically this like, like holocrux that's like, remember it was like in the library or the Jedi archives.

And you weren't supposed to check it out or you weren't even supposed to read it.

And then remember, if you remember, he walks in and Doku's like reading it in his own office.

As in like, how did you get that?

And then he explains to Qui-Gon at that point in that, I think it was the audio drama, if I remember right.

Or maybe it was a book. I forget. Maybe it was Master and Apprentice.

I forget where that happened, but I remember.

But yeah, and then he walks in and he's like, and you know,

Look, it's not black and white. The Jedi are very, you know, and at this time,

Doku was, you know, full Jedi and he's like, you know, the, the Jedi are very good people.

You know, we're, we're here to do all this other stuff. That's, that's good to help everybody,

but it's not always black and white.

And sometimes you need to see these stuff that they don't want you to see. And, um,

and that was, that was this, that this felt like that.

And I went back and look, cause I was like, I was like, what is,

what timeline was this technically? Because this isn't of course on our list,

this would have been back before we actually read Master Apprentice.

So yeah, way back. Yeah. So it's, it's, it's like 42 to 63 BBY or 63 to 42 BBY,

um, is what people are saying. This is in that range. They don't know of course,

but, um, but yeah,

this was kind of a neat thing that we've gotten so far in the Canon that we now

get all flashback that technically isn't on our list, but,

but we get a flashback and we can be like, Hey, we know that we,

we knew what was going on at this time. And, uh, that was, that was,

that was pretty neat. I really, really enjoyed this episode.

I hope all the details are like this. Yeah, absolutely.

So what was your takeaway from the episode? What happens,

what happens next?

Um, I feel like that they're going to leave this planet and just go about

whatever their next job is. I mean, I think what happens,

what happens to the planet, what happens on the planet? I don't know.

It's a great question. I don't know. Can the kid bring about change? I, you know,

nothing changes. You don't think anything does you think that's,

you think this is, this is one of the straws that kind of breaks Doku?

Uh, I hadn't thought about it in those terms, but, uh, I'm just saying for me,

this was a heartbreaking episode because I know that nothing changes. Yeah.

And you're probably right. The kid, the kid is going to try,

he's going to come up against the wall of bureaucracy and tradition and what

have you. And, and he's going to get disillusioned, uh, and just, you know,

throw up his hands and not care anymore. Um, or run away or run away from his,

no, I don't see him ending up like his dad.

He's either going to just be broken inside and, you know,

basically kind of dead inside. Like, you know, nothing matters. I can't,

I can't do anything or he will run away and try to, you know,

like do something somewhere else. Yeah.

His own way. Like, like kind of prove himself his own way. Yeah. Yeah.

It's, it's a, it's a, yeah. One of the things that I noticed too, that I,

I did kind of like, I don't, it didn't,

I'm not gonna say it didn't sit well with me, but toward the end,

did you notice how the guys that had shot the townspeople were helping them out?

I did not notice that. Okay. So there's,

there's a scene at the very end of this where, uh, Oh,

Oh, another thing I wanted to bring up though. I really enjoyed the Mac,

the big Mac that kind of like, Oh, two ton. Yeah. Two ton. Awesome. Yeah.

That was a, that was a really cool Mac. That was really cool design. Um,

almost as cool as Doku in them starship. I really liked that starship too.

I hadn't seen a design like that. Like I feel like I'm not a huge, you know,

I don't know all the different ship classes and all that kind of stuff,

but I do like kind of know like the, the looks of a lot of ships.

And I don't think we've seen a ship that looks like that.

But we know we have, we have, we have somewhere, I swear with the vertical,

the vertical turns. Yeah. It turns and sits. Yes. But was it,

we've seen that somewhere. We've seen that somewhere. It may even, uh,

have been in the, what was the video game? The, um, Oh shoot. Oh,

fallen Jedi. Yeah. It may have even been in the video game,

but I know we've seen possibly even that particular ship design before.

Wow. Okay. Good memory. I did not remember that,

but I thought that that was the coolest thing I'd seen in a while.

I was like, Oh, it's super cool. It makes no sense at all.

It doesn't have to. It's it's it's pure star wars. Yeah. That, that,

that ship was super cool. And then of course, two ton was awesome.

I really enjoyed two times, but anyways, at the very end of the scene,

at the very end, whenever, uh,

Qui-Gon and Doku were kind of walking away and you see the speeder pull off

with the Senator and his son, um,

it flashes over and shows two ton trying to load something onto a cart.

I think is what it was. I remember that. Yeah. And if you look,

the next two or three scenes are the townspeople like injured towns,

people like sitting there and you see the, uh, the guys that shot them,

the army personnel, the Senator literally like helping them.

And I'm like, this is really weird because you guys just shot them.

Like you guys are the, you're the problem. And then like 30,

30 minutes later, after you're lost, technically, um,

you're sitting there like, like helping their wounds and stuff.

And it's not just one panel.

It's like multiple like shots that they kind of like filter through.

So I'm going to have to revise what I said about, uh, what happens after that,

that is the writer of the show saying,

trying to convey to you that no things are going to change.

Yeah. And it, and it does. And it's like three or four different,

like I said, scenes where it shows the, the, the warrior guys,

the army guys, like helping out people that they can literally just straight

with bullets.

I totally missed that completely.

Well, I think that possibly it's because you saw two ton loading that cool cart

thing and the little dog running out after him. And, um,

and got dismayed and you're like, Oh, puppy dog, two ton, two ton puppy dog.

And then you miss like, and it's a split second. It's only like, you know,

four or five seconds total of showing them. But, uh, yeah, I, I,

I really enjoyed this. I I'm excited for it.

I'm very excited for this series.

It's two great episodes so far.

Yeah, and I'm happy to add it.

One good episode and one great episode.

Yeah, the last one was good.

If I ranked them, this one would be far higher than the first episode with Ahsoka.

And I like that one. I like the old lady and all that kind of stuff.

And the Saber-2 Tiger.

I enjoyed the movie.

It is a very long film, and it didn't feel like a long film for the most part.

I am actually super impressed that James Cameron was able to make Avatar

all over again, which itself was a ripoff of various other films,

and still make it seem fresh and still get billions of dollars in box office.

It's the same movie.

It is the exact same movie.

Yeah.

Isn't that amazing?

Yeah.

But to be fair, though, and I thought about this, you know, like, all right,

so I walked out of there, and I was like, that is, number one,

the best looking movie I've seen ever in my life.

Yeah.

And you saw the 3D one, too. We saw the 3D one. It really was.

It really was the best looking, like, detailed graphics throughout the entire

run length of a long movie.

Every single scene, nothing looked like it was, like, called in.

Like, you know, like you watch, like, Transformers or something,

and, like, you'll see one scene where there's, like, incredible detail

in this big fight, and then the next scene it's kind of like,

oh, okay, you didn't work on that one that much.

You know what I mean?

Every single second of that movie, every single millisecond of that movie

was fine tooth combed.

Like, it was, it looked so good.

I couldn't, I'm not going to say I couldn't get past the story.

The story was a lot more emotional, I felt, than the first one.

I thought that they hit those notes really, really well.

But overall, yeah, I completely agree.

It is the exact same story. Exact same story.

It is. There's no escaping it. It's the same story.

It's the same movie all over again.

It makes me really wonder about Avatar 3,

which is apparently going to be about some fire people,

which I guess we're just covering all the elements at this point.

Yeah, every element at this point.

It's like Avatar the Last Airbender, but not, but still called Avatar.

Yeah, I don't know if I have actually much more to say about it,

because it's just the same movie all over again.

Very well done.

I really do think, because one of the big things about Avatar,

like an internet trope has been, it had Zero cultural impact.

You can't quote it.

Most people can't name a single character out of the movie.

There are people on the street, like, name a character from Avatar.

All I could do, because it's so memorable, was the Jake Sully.

That's all I could do.

What was the girl's name? No idea. Not a clue.

What was the big bad guy? No idea. Not a clue.

But what's amazing is that it, honest to goodness, is an amazingly big IP.

People know exactly what you're talking about when you talk about Avatar.

They knew it before this movie.

There's just something.

It is a rich, seemingly, I would say, fully developed world.

And it has no hooks, no quotable lines, no memorable characters.

So let's say, let's say, and I'm not saying anything based on the actors or actresses,

but let's say what if Cameron, because Cameron, this is an amazing world building experience.

It really is.

Like, there's no denying that.

Like, it is, it is, it is very neat seeing a new world, the IP, I mean, that's been created, in my opinion.

That's really well done.

I mean, like, it's very well detailed.

It's very well thought out.

Down to the animal designs, you know, everything.

The evolution thing.

Yeah, the evolution, the body plans of all the animals around there.

Yeah.

Someone put a lot of thought into that.

Yeah.

Or the species.

God bless them.

Or yeah, or just the, it's the same species, but different places, so they've evolved differently with tails and all that.

Like, it's really, it is amazingly well thought out, and he should get all the credit in the world for that.

But I totally agree with you that, like, there's just nothing that sticks out.

If that's the closest you'll get, then there's not much of anything quotable.

But again, now I'm sitting back saying, did Cameron one up some people by creating this massive world,

this world that I don't know anyone who has not said that that was one of the most beautiful, lush worlds that you can almost feel in a movie.

He's created this entire world.

The characters are not memorable, but we've repeated this story again.

The story is pretty memorable.

The story is, as you're seeing, it's a very, very, very environmental thing where the first one was about trees.

This one's about the water.

The next one, I guess, about fire.

I don't know.

Well, this one was about the whales.

Sure, the whales.

But that's exactly what I'm saying.

It's very easy for us to talk about what the movie's premise was trying to convey, but we do forget the characters.

I totally agree with you, and maybe that's a really neat step because in the land of comic book characters, the character makes the movie.

It's just like Deadpool is Deadpool because he's Deadpool.

The story is in the back seat for comic movies a lot of times.

Don't get me wrong.

You've got big arcs and the whole thing.

When you piece together 10 different movies, it's very, very impressive.

But I'm just saying, usually the characters are at the forefront, and I'm going to see this movie because Wolverine's in it.

I love Wolverine.

That's why I want to go see it.

Whereas this one, you do not have – there is no favorite character from Avatar.

So so that was the first time I think I had seen 3D

that wasn't the red and blue glasses type 3D.

It was it was 3D polarized.

If I remember, I remember it was I remember just being like,

this is amazing. We are in the future.

Like, I literally remember, like, there's a part where the asteroid comes up

and just kind of like hovers in front of you.

And I just remember being like and I was young, but I remember being like,

this is how every movie is going to be made in the future.

And we're all going to live in the movies.

Like I was like, this is going to be and nothing happened with it.

But then I saw I've probably seen since that time.

I've probably seen honestly sitting in a movie theater seat,

maybe 20 3D movies. That's all right.

Yeah. And and one of them was Avatar one.

And it blew me away because I remember that one.

You like the ember falling from the burning trees and stuff.

I just remember being like, this is insane. This is so good.

And in this movie.

So those three movies are really the only three that I can sit back and say

those three were the were great 3D movies.

I can't even barely remember the other movies I've seen.

And I know I've seen I know about tickets.

I like that. It did. The 3D didn't matter.

I could have gone and saw it without 3D and then just the same.

But these these I would or, yes, you know, take it, take it or leave it.

But after I wanted Avatar two, I would tell you, go see it in a theater in 3D.

That's the best experience.

at home watching at home.

I would say, even though I'm not wild about the movie,

They did the preview for the trailer for the movie for Avatar,

and they're going to make an IMAX 3D version, I think is what it was.

I don't think it was just IMAX.

I think it was IMAX 3D, if I remember right.

I could be totally wrong.

But like for that, I wouldn't buy a 3D ticket for that.

Yeah, I would. I would. OK.

For a very simple reason, the IMAX theater in the theater

that I go to is right next to the men's restroom, and it makes it very convenient.

Get to go back in really quick.

And there's a butter machine that's right there, too.

So like, it's butter.

You just kind of stick your hand up under there, grab some butter.

Easy and easy.

Yeah, smack it in your mouth after you've got the restroom and head back in.

Yeah. So but but I wouldn't watch it in 3D.

I don't know. Like like Quantumania is like, I'll watch it in IMAX probably,

but not 3D. Like I just don't know.

Right. If I if I'm given a choice between what is the like the regular Sony 3D

where it's got a name, I can't remember what it's called.

Real 3D, I think.

OK, if I have a choice between that and IMAX, I'm going IMAX because I like IMAX.

I like a big screen.

Yeah. And IMAX 3D.

OK, fine. I don't care.

And now that I think about it, I think I saw Avatar 1 in IMAX 3D.

So that's that's probably. Yeah, that's probably the one.

Yeah, that's probably why I was so wild, too, because of the sound.

I will say that I think movies are getting loud, dude.

And maybe I'm just getting old, but I think it's both.

I think it's both. They are getting loud.

It is like I we were a couple of previews in and I was just like,

I looked at my son and my son actually turned to me.

It was like, it is really loud in here.

And I was like, I know it is.

It's just part of the IMAX experience. But.

and six, because it looks like chronologically those guys are actually

going to be before two and three, which is it sounds really weird.
