R2-D2

R2-D2, often simply called "Artoo," is an iconic astromech droid within the Star Wars universe, first introduced in the 1977 film Star Wars: A New Hope. Designed by concept artist Ralph McQuarrie and brought to life by a team of engineers and experienced puppeteers, R2-D2 is primarily portrayed by actor Kenny Baker. Serving alongside C-3PO, a Protocol Droid, R2-D2 frequently finds itself at the center of critical events shaping the galaxy. The small, cylindrical droid plays an essential role across all three trilogies, assisting both the original characters like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and their sequel counterparts, Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron.
