Chass na Chadic is a human female B-Wing pilot introduced in Alexander Freed’s Alphabet Squadron trilogy (canon, 2019-2021). A veteran of the Galactic Civil War, she outlived several earlier Rebel units and took part in major actions such as Endor, emerging with heavy survivor’s guilt and a grim determination to go out in a blaze of glory. To keep herself focused - and to drown out her own thoughts - she pipes deafening rock music through her cockpit speakers while flying her B-wing, whose heavy-strike load-out makes her the squadron’s sledgehammer. Blunt, profane, and half in love with the idea of a heroic death, Chass keeps would-be friends at arm’s length.
After the fall of the Empire’s second Death Star, General Hera Syndulla recruits her into the ad-hoc Alphabet Squadron (X-, A-, Y-, B- and U-wing) tasked with hunting the elite 204th Imperial Fighter Wing, “Shadow Wing.” Within the five-ship group, Chass supplies raw firepower while wrestling with the question of whether she wants to survive the war at all. Stranded during the events of Shadow Fall, she spends months among a charismatic cult that venerates Rebel martyrs, a detour that forces her to decide if she truly craves martyrdom or simply purpose. By victory’s Price she ultimately rejects the death-wish, choosing her found family - Yrica Quell, Wyl Lark, Nath Tensent, and the enigmatic Kairos - and fighting through the climactic Battle of Jakku.
When the New Republic finally wins, Chass is still standing, surprised to find herself alive and unsure what to do with the future she once scorned. She continues flying for the Republic when needed but also embraces music off the battlefield, touring frontier cantinas with an amp-blasting rock act powered by salvaged TIE solar panels. Loud, self-destructive, and fiercely loyal beneath the swagger, Chass na Chadic personifies the Rebel survivor: someone who spent the entire war preparing to die and now has to learn, day by day, how to live.
