Sith Wayfinder

Dark Side

The Sith Wayfinder is a mysterious artifact that made its first appearance in the Star Wars universe in Episode IX, "The Rise of Skywalker." This intriguing object connects back to the ancient Sith knowledge and bears a pivotal role in the plotline of the movie. The Wayfinder is a pyramid-shaped device, with seams that pulse with a fiery crimson glow. Its purpose is guided towards pointing whoever possesses the artifact to the hidden Sith world of Exegol.

The Sith Wayfinder was created by the ancient Sith, a group of Force-wielding dark side practitioners who were once at war with the Jedi of the Galactic Republic. The ancient Sith culture, centered around power and dominance, originated on the dark, desolate planet of Moraband, also known as Korriban. Many secrets and ancient relics associated with the Sith were buried on Moraband, kept hidden from the Jedi and the rest of the galaxy for generations.

Exegol, the hidden Sith world, was the secret base of operations during the time of Darth Sidious, also known as Emperor Palpatine. Here, the Wayfinder played a crucial role in aiding Darth Sidious's ultimate plan to restore the Sith Empire and seize control over the galaxy. In his efforts to ensure his survival and the continuation of the Sith, Palpatine created several Sith Wayfinders that would point to the hidden location of Exegol when activated.

Upon activation, the Sith Wayfinder projects a holographic star map that references the vast cosmic landscape of the Star Wars galaxy. Using the Wayfinder, a pilot is guided along a route that leads them through a series of dangerous hyperspace anomalies and treacherous paths to reach the hidden planet of Exegol. Only the most skillful pilots are able to navigate this path, as demonstrated by Poe Dameron and Rey in "The Rise of Skywalker."

The Wayfinder becomes a central plot point in the final film of the Skywalker saga when the Jedi scavenger Rey goes on an epic quest to uncover the mysteries of the Force and confront her own dark lineage. Rey's journey takes her to the wreckage of the second Death Star on the ocean moon of Kef Bir, where the remnants of Emperor Palpatine's throne room contain one of the elusive Sith Wayfinders. Discovering the Wayfinder eventually leads Rey to the ancient Sith world of Exegol, where she confronts her heritage and the resurgent Emperor Palpatine.

The introduction of the Sith Wayfinder in "The Rise of Skywalker" adds another layer to the Star Wars mythology by connecting the narrative of the modern story with the ancient tales of the Sith. The Wayfinder engages the audience's curiosity around the mysterious darkness surrounding the Sith Empire and its relics while simultaneously contributing to the epic conclusion of the Skywalker saga. The Sith Wayfinder stands as a symbol of the enduring influence of the dark side and a reminder of its ever-present threat in the galaxy.
