Ponda Baba

Ponda Baba, also known as "Sawkee" in his native Aqualish language, is a character from the "Star Wars" franchise, making his first appearance in "Star Wars: A New Hope". He is a member of the Aqualish species from the planet Ando and is easily recognizable by his unique walrus-like appearance. Notably, he sports a pair of formidable tusks and has flipper-like hands.

Baba is best known for his encounter with Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Mos Eisley Cantina, where he ended up losing his right arm to Obi-Wan's lightsaber. A low-level thug by trade, Baba is often seen in the company of Dr. Cornelius Evazan, an outlaw with whom he had many criminal escapades. Despite his rough exterior and roguish lifestyle, Ponda Baba is quite well-traveled and multilingual, able to speak in several languages usually far beyond the capacity of typical Aqualish.

Ponda Baba's reputation in the "Star Wars" universe is as a criminal, smuggler and overall troublemaker, always finding himself in some kind of illicit activity or mischief. As a character of the main "Star Wars canon", he is still referenced in many "Star Wars" works, including television series, video games, books, and comic strips. Though his appearance in the "Star Wars" saga was brief, he made a lasting impression and has become a memorable character in the sci-fi epic.
