Ochi of Bestoon is a character from the Star Wars franchise that made his first appearance in the movie "Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker" (2019). He is a Sith assassin and loyal servant of Emperor Palpatine. Not much is known about Ochi's past, but as evident from the name, it is speculated that he could be from the Bestoon Legacy, a lineage of Sith loyalists.
In the story, Ochi played an essential role in fulfilling Palpatine's orders, especially after the latter's presumed death in the movie "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" (1983). Ochi's primary mission was to retrieve Emperor Palpatine's granddaughter, Rey, as part of the Emperor's plan to create a new lineage of Sith. To do this, Ochi was entrusted with a Sith Wayfinder device, a unique artifact that could help locate the hidden Sith world of Exegol, where Emperor Palpatine was resurrected.
However, Ochi's mission took a dark turn when he discovered that Rey was the daughter of Palpatine's cloned offspring. To ensure that Rey's parents could never lead Rey back to Exegol, Ochi murdered them on Palpatine's orders. While burying their bodies on the desert planet of Pasaana, Ochi was betrayed by his own droid D-O, who led the Resistance to the wayfinder that was hidden aboard Ochi's ship.
Ochi's legacy continued to haunt Rey and her friends long after his demise. His Sith dagger, also known as the Dagger of Mortis, contained an inscription in an ancient Sith language that could reveal the location of the missing wayfinder. To decipher this inscription, Rey and her friends sought the help of C-3PO, who had to undergo a risky mind-wipe to access the forbidden knowledge locked within his programming.
Although Ochi was a ruthless killer and a true believer in the power of the dark side, his life was full of betrayals and failures. He was ultimately betrayed by his own droid, who decided to disable itself rather than continue serving Ochi. This act eventually led to Ochi's remains being discovered on Pasaana by Rey, Finn, and Poe, which triggered their hunt for the lost wayfinder and the eventual confrontation between Rey and Emperor Palpatine.
Ochi of Bestoon is a character in the Star Wars universe that serves as a reminder of the relentless ambition and cruel nature of the Sith Order. As a Sith assassin, his loyalty to Emperor Palpatine led him on a dark and twisted path that ultimately resulted in his own betrayal and eventual demise. His actions left a lasting impact on the galaxy, setting the stage for the final confrontation between the forces of light and darkness in the Skywalker Saga.
