So tonight I'm very excited about this one. This is Three Taverns.

This is Crave which is a double dry hopped, double IPA.

It is lush tropical hop juice.

Fine. It has Citra, Citra Lupo Max, Mosaic, Mosaic Lupo Max, Amarillo and Amarillo Lupo Max.

Lupo Max sounds like this really cool strain of weed where it's like they start merging all these things together.

I have no clue what Lupo Max is.

I've never brewed beer in probably about six or seven years, but I don't know what Lupo Max is.

That sounds kind of neat. I might have to research that just to see.

New England style IPA.

New England style is good. I like that.

This is a double India pale ale that you had two podcasts ago and you raved about it.

So I went and picked up eight. I picked up eight of them a week and a half ago.

And this is my last one that I had to actually set at the back of the fridge to make sure I didn't drink it so that I could drink it.

Yeah, that's never a good idea. I'll buy ahead of time. No, that's not a good idea.

This is not going to survive.

This might be, and I shouldn't be saying this because we haven't popped it at the top, we're supposed to taste them and all that kind of stuff,

but this might be my new favorite double IPA.

And I'm being completely serious. It is so good. It is such a good, it's getting up there where it might replace Gold Monkey if I can get to it.

But that's a totally different, no, that's a different style.

No, it's not. I understand you got the trouble. I understand that.

I'm just saying that like Gold Monkey's like, I have like one and I'm like, okay, I'm done, I'm going to bed.

This is on up there, alcohol wise, I think it's like 8.5 or 8.6.

But sorry, I'm looking, it's 8.3 actually.

But you get the pint too, so it's like a nice, it's good. It's a good beer.

So sat down to watch these two episodes.

I didn't realize that they were a continuation from our last episode.

I thought that that kind of ended on a good note because you remember at the very end of five, season two, Episode five,

Anakin and them had the score thing where they're all like, I had 37.

We talked about the last podcast.

Yes.

I thought I was going to kind of be the end of that arc.

Like it felt like the end episode of, you know, that kind of just story.

But I was completely wrong.

We got two more.

Yes. And, well, I don't want to jump ahead.

But, yes, I was happy to see that it continued.

So let's let's discuss.

Episode in which we have I think this is the first time we've seen Barriss Offrey.

Isn't it? Did you recognize her? The Jedi? The green Jedi with the purple diamonds?

The other Padawan? Not no, no, no, not Barriss is the actual Jedi Master.

Oh, the Jedi Master? No, we've seen her before. Where did we see her at?

I think we may have seen her in Clone Wars the movie, but have we seen her in cartoon form?

God, you're again you task me. Yeah, I don't know.

I'm seeing if you have a jog to your memory. I didn't. I knew who she was.

I knew who she was. Okay, let me say this. If you knew who she was, we have seen her before.

Yes. Yes. Absolutely. We definitely have seen her before.

And now that I think about it, I think she may have been in an episode with Ahsoka

and where they had that guy in the prison and he was ended up being.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. You're totally right. You jogged my memory.

Thank you very much. So, yes, we've seen Barriss before and then we do get to meet her Padawan.

And it was kind of a neat episode where the Padawans kind of got to survive themselves

and they trust them so much. It's amazing.

I mean, the whole mission is pretty much in their hands and they could die very easily

going through the catacombs of the genosian kind of castle or fact.

Actually, it was it was a castle that was converted to a factory.

Looks like a big termite hive, really.

And they converted it to a factory.

And the goal, you know, during this because this is kind of like it feels like these last couple of episodes

or maybe this whole series or maybe this whole season is going to be all about capturing

genosis, like it's kind of like the main striving for it.

Like the main striving thing, because they talked about how they formed the front lines

with Rex and all those guys.

And then now they're moving ahead back to take it over again, this actual new weapons factory.

So I guess that's kind of going to be the theme maybe in this season from here on out.

I don't know. And it makes sense because remember, if you remember, we jumped all the way up to the

bounty hunters and the Zillow Beast and all that kind of stuff, which is on a completely different planet.

So maybe that's the reason they wanted to move those episodes out in the timeline chronologically.

And then now we're just kind of going through genesis stuff.

What do you think of the episode?

What was your takeaways?

So several things.

So at some point Obi-Wan makes the comment, let's hope we don't have to retake genosis a third time.

Oh, that's right.

He did say that.

That's right.

Did we see them?

Why did they lose genosis?

Did they just abandon it?

Yeah, that's a good question.

Because at the end of the last episode, which is the first genosian.

Well, I don't know.

Is he referring back to Clone Wars, the movie?

I don't remember, they kind of invaded and all those big silver ball things are taken off in the Trade Federation.

They blew them up.

Yeah.

Maybe they lost it and then came back and then now they're succeeding in taking it over the second time.

Well, that is what's happening.

I'm just have, did we see or did anyone say that?

Not that I'm aware of.

I just want to be sure.

Yeah, not that I'm aware of that.

They knew the enemy.

So like you definitely tell them in the last episodes that we watched where they did that first battle, that first strike.

They definitely knew the enemy.

So I mean, they knew the firepower behind them and knew Poggle the Lesser and all that kind of stuff.

So yeah, I think you're right.

I think that was off screen and we just missed it or they may have alluded to it.

Or maybe this was the illusion that you're supposed to get for it.

I don't know.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I enjoy the Genosians as like a species almost.

I mean, like I enjoy it's kind of a different thing that you don't see all that often where, you know, they're fighting.

They're flying around.

They're hiding these like termite mines and all sleeping together.

You know, it's weird all sleeping together.

But I mean,

Well, no, that was brilliant though.

No, it was.

I love that because when they did the setup about, you know, here's your mission.

I'm like, why are there tunnels like that?

Why would there happen to be convenient tunnels that you can sneak through?

And when they showed the sleeping Genosians, okay.

Yeah, it makes sense.

There's a reason for the tunnels.

It totally does.

Got it.

Fantastic.

Give me a logical reason for the contrivance.

I always appreciate that.

And also too, to add to that, I mean, you know, they cover up the exits for the catacombs with a pipe of the thing you got to move.

It's like a door.

So it's almost like, yeah, this is where you get out of sleep.

You know what I mean?

This is like, this is the underground.

And then when you're ready to work, you come upstairs, you know what I mean?

And you know, it was neat.

Yeah, I agree with that.

It was very neat.

And I thought it was neat that they, you know, had a pair of soft freeze.

And I wish I could remember Padawan's name.

Going through the tunnels, knowing she's like, I've memorized this thing.

I know exactly where to go.

And then, you know, she gets a little lost.

Then she's like, no, wait a minute.

We need to go up, not to the left.

So I don't know.

That was present.

That was a little odd moment, though, because she was presented as the Jedi Master presented her as, you know, she's memorized everything.

Yeah, she's so well prepared.

And then she doesn't know where she's going.

I think that's the core of the episode, though, right?

It's teaching styles.

It's like, Barriss Offrey was like, hey, you know everything.

You're good to go.

You've got everything.

You've, you're the Nick Saban.

You've, you've, you've, you've learned it.

The slightest bit of, of hesitation by the Padawan at that moment would have sold me.

Because then, oh, you, you knew that she was kind of pumping you up and you were like, yes, yes, master.

But it didn't come off that way in the moment.

It came off as, you know, she's, she's totally awesome.

Ahsoka can go too.

You know, I just got a different take on it.

Okay, fair enough.

I mean,

She's like, it's not left, it's up.

To me, to me, to me, it was like, here, she's so well prepared.

Here's our learning style.

She's so well prepared that you don't have to worry about her.

She gets in there.

There's a little bit of a little error.

But then what I really liked was after they plant the bombs,

is she's got to figure out something dynamically, you know, to

that they've got this tank that they didn't know existed.

You know what I mean?

And I thought that was one of the really good parts of this episode

is she had to act

on a whim, pretty much, you know, and she ends up doing it.

She ends up, you know, kind of saving the day.

Well, I shouldn't say saving the day, but at least prolonging the day.

And when you say she had to act on a whim, was that doing the very obvious

thing of jumping on the tank and cutting it open like a tin can with a lightsaber?

Because that was just, you know, writings on the wall for that.

Or was it the sacrifice?

No, it was the former.

It was it was for jumping off the tin can.

But but they didn't know that these things were there.

I mean, that's kind of like, yeah, I get it.

She she knew what to do.

Oh, no, here's the thing.

Oh, wait, I'm holding a lightsaber that cuts through anything.

Yeah, well, how she jumped up there and you can't penetrate it

with the lightsaber, that would have been.

Yeah, but this was a we also number one, we didn't know they were there.

Number two, you find out upstairs when they're having the battle

that Obi Wan and them figure out that they can't break through their armor.

It's just they're just going to keep moving.

So there's a little bit of of viewer hesitancy where you're like,

can she cut through this thing?

And she does. And it works, you know.

But you're also kind of like, oh, OK, well, maybe she can't even cut

through this thing. And, you know, of course they do.

Until you're shown that they can't, you have to assume that the lightsaber,

which has been presented as a tool which can cut through pretty much anything.

There's some stuff for that.

Master and Prince novel where oddly it could end the Zulu beast.

Certain that all right.

There's things that they can't. Anyway.

But yeah, it's still you.

You know, listen to us.

Sounded like a bunch of Star Wars geeks remembering things

that the lightsaber can't cut through. I love it. It's awesome.

There should be a list.

We should we should we actually things that we can't do.

OK. All right. Yeah, I'll do that.

It was kind of it was kind of humorous in a not

like not good way, like a farcical way where

before she jumps up on the tank and cuts it open.

It's just kind of lumbering around the generator, like, come back here.

I'm going to do it. It was it was.

That was kind of so that was like this is a video game.

This is like something out of a boss.

Yeah, it was like a potato.

Really? Yeah, I agree with that.

I totally agree with that.

And see, there's some consistency things where I was just like,

didn't you just cut a huge hole in the top of this thing?

So the rocks are not in there.

Like I mean, like I was I was just sitting there like, OK, I did.

One thing I really did enjoy, though, was a soca whenever they're in the tank.

Like back when, you know, she first was introduced.

It was kind of this, hey, Snips like, oh, yeah, we're fun.

We're cool, you know, blah, blah, blah.

But she's getting some of Anakin's jadedness.

And I really like that scene where they're like sitting in the tank

and she's like, oh, no, we'll probably die of air.

You know, we won't we won't have air first before we die.

The story. Yeah, I love that because she's getting that kind of like cynical,

like just kind of dark humor that you see with Anakin at this point.

And and of course, Anakin, you know, we know where he can go.

But, you know, back then when this aired, you have no clue where it was going to go.

And and that's kind of neat.

I enjoyed that part. I thought that was actually kind of funny.

I also enjoy speaking of that.

Yeah, the I'm sorry. Go ahead.

Just to cover the sacrifice, I thought that was well done.

They sold it.

They didn't I mean, they didn't sell it in that sense.

But I I bought the moment knowing that they're not going to die.

Yeah. Right. But I still bought the.

Well, you could. Does that make any sense?

No, I know. I agree with that.

I think that you bought the moment and also to you didn't.

I mean, we know at this point that a soak is going to make it up,

but we don't know about bear sufferings.

I don't want like I was like you. You didn't know what could happen.

There was a little bit of of oh, this is a little bit of war here.

But then again, to honestly, though, I wasn't thinking about her at all.

I was thinking, oh, no, Soko.

Yeah, I know you're going to live. But oh, yeah.

Anyway, I bought it. I understand what you meant.

It's really hard to pull that off. I agree. I agree.

And she did it.

Was it was it Leah?

Yeah, Leah did it also in the blue goo episodes

with the guy that was like The Tick.

What was the episodes?

You remember what I'm talking about?

Where the poison, the guy with the poison and he was.

Oh, yeah. Yeah.

They did that same thing because we remember they're trapped in the thing.

The guy that was like The Tick.

Well, you kept referring to The Tick about the mad scientist guy from The Tick.

What was it? The evil midnight bomber?

The evil midnight bomber. Yeah, baby. Yeah.

Yes. That guy, the evil midnight bomber.

Yeah. So but they but whenever they get trapped down there with the poison

and they were all going to die, you knew they were going to die.

But I thought they sold it a little bit.

I mean, I thought it was pretty good.

And I think it's the same kind of parallel here with Ahsoka.

And yeah, I agree with you. Yeah, I understand what you're saying.

It's it's like, you know, you won't you know, you can't believe it.

But yet it's pretty good scene.

Like you're just like, OK, pretty good scene.

I mean, we we yes, we crave the drama.

Well, we we crave the drama and we crave Jedi or like the people that are

where they're like the top tier, like they could actually be in trouble,

which is kind of neat because you're like, oh, even though you're Padawan,

you still shouldn't, you know, still shouldn't be in this kind of situation.

But I don't know, it was a good episode.

It was it was one of those where like I was entertained by watching it.

I don't know if I was blown away like I was like the Zillow Beast or like that.

I'll be like, whoa, cool. That's so awesome.

Good graphics.

Again, you always said, I know, well, the graphics just seem like they're getting better.

Like it's only season two.

And like I think back on season one and I'm like, those graphics were like, OK,

but maybe they had to rush and get them out. I don't know what.

But now I think I feel like they have the artistry, they have the money

and they're really putting forth the effort to make it look really good,

even on these like quick action scenes.

Yeah, I don't know.

You want to give a number one through 100?

One through 100 for this, this particular episode, only this episode.

I got a number. Yeah.

OK, right. Three, two, one.

That's terrible.

Maybe I maybe I should probably go a little higher.

75. But like I said, it was entertaining.

It wasn't like I was like, oh, this is an amazing, amazing.

You hated this. No, I didn't. I didn't hate it.

I didn't. I should have gone a little higher just because.

Yeah. OK, fair enough. I should go a little higher.

I probably should have said 75 just because that's kind of the average

I was in for me to where it's not that I didn't enjoy watching it,

but it's also not like blowing me away either.

I didn't do the bombs at the bottom of the bridge

and then like kind of monkey barring around under there.

That was kind of cool.

Yeah. Speaking of bombs, I have a question for you.

Why didn't they just nuke the stupid factory?

Yeah, agreed. I don't know.

Why do they have to penetrate again?

One little throwaway line of dialogue, you know, would have would have covered that.

Yeah, well, also to just throw something on there

if you would just destroy the bridge.

I mean, they can't get over to you.

I mean, I guess they could fly around like the single units can fly over to you.

But they're not getting anything else.

You you you can't just take a look.

OK, well, let's go back to the stand guard.

Let's go back to the Jedi Order, though.

They're trying to capture Poggle and they state that from the beginning.

You know, they're honestly trying to capture Poggle.

So to capture him, you're going to have to get in there and get him.

Yeah. So so I don't you know, I don't it's the Jedi.

They've got to get Poggle out of there.

Number one, because they want to arrest him to find out what information he has.

And number two, they can't just nuke place.

I mean, they're Jedi. You can't just nuke the place.

I agree with you. They need to destroy.

They're killing people left and right. They don't care.

Yeah. They're all guys which you're like, oh, well,

why don't you bounce it off by not killing your own guys?

But I agree. But, you know, the Poggle thing, actually,

I'm feeling a little stupid now because the Poggle thing kind of does explain it.

I didn't think about that.

Yeah. I mean, it's it's one to capture.

Well, I mean, to be fair, they're not really all that

like worried about blowing him up there, though.

I mean, they're setting the bombs in the place.

They really are like a he's got a 50 50 chance to get now.

Hopefully he gets out. We can get him.

I mean, it's not like they're putting a lot of emphasis on getting him.

But still, I agree. I think it was probably for Poggle.

Or that's the storyboard written part of it.

All in all, all in all, decent episode.

I don't know. It was good.

Wouldn't wouldn't mind blowing, but also it was good.

I don't know.

I think I like the last episode of the previous one or Episode five better.

No more war. Yeah, I agree.

Like, you know, kind of downtrodden and like in the dirt kind of warfare.

But let's move on to the next one, because the next one, the next one is is

I think what did you think of?

I mean, I don't like it.

OK, so first off, basically, Barris gets taken and captured.

And then she is kind of like pulled down into the caverns

of this place that she was.

She will start from the beginning.

She decides to chase after Poggle the Lesser because they believe he's still alive.

She gets captured.

She gets taken down into the catacombs of this other building,

like an old kind of like a place of worship or temple.

Yeah, a temple place of worship and gets taken down

and they feel like they need to go find her.

They go down there and they find these kind of like zombie versions

of the genocence, which is like they can't be killed.

They just keep coming up and they got these little worms

that come in and out of their nose that keep them alive.

And they get down there and they figure out that there's this

my this huge queen matriarch type character

that's captured bears and is holding her.

And she now wants and she controls all via her mind.

She controls all the zombie genocence and they want to go to their getter

and bring bears back.

I mean, is that the best way to describe the episode?

Yeah. Yeah.

You know, the zombie thing was kind of neat.

I summarize it as zombies plus an alien queen.

Yes, please. Yeah, I mean, it was it was the better of the two episodes.

I'm still not convinced that it was.

It was amazing. Spooky.

It was it was spooky. I really like this.

I agree. It was it was a bit more really like it, especially some of the dark

when when well, the zombies are coming up, you know, and at first, you're not like

or are they zombies and then the worms crawl through there

in and out of the nose.

We're like, that is properly gross.

Yeah, the word that is awesome. Yeah.

And there was those jump scared parts in this, too.

I mean, it was it was legit jump scare.

I mean, yeah, you had the mystery at the beginning where they just disappear.

And so and I think it tells a little about the centurion nine isino million lear.

They show up to the temple and they're like, where is everybody? Where did everybody go?

I mean, it was, that was really nice.

And then they get captured.

And then, so the next party comes along and they're like, where did everybody go?

And, uh, the, the, the part about Obi-Wan seemingly being, uh, he's willing to let

her being take over, taken over by the worms.

Just to see how it works.

That was, that's pretty dark.

That's pretty dark.

But, but he wasn't though.

That, that was a ruse.

That was a feint.

Yeah, but they did a pretty good job of you questioning it.

Cause you're just kind of like, is Obi a scientist here?

Like it was kind of like, Oh, yeah, I agree with that.

He's a, he's a sociopath.

I mean, he's really, and then, and then, and then you see, you hear his actual, you

see his actual plan.

So, uh, but he did want to capture the worm.

I mean, that, that was that I really thought this was a good episode.

It was the better of the two.

I agree.

It was the better of the two.

I, uh, for me, the, um, I can't like, maybe it's just because I played so many video

games about 10 years ago, but like, I felt like everything turned to zombies.

Like, it was just kind of like.

After walking dead, it was just kind of like, Hey, let's put it on.

No, this was way before walking nose 2009.

Well, I don't know.

Maybe it was about the time I'm walking dead.

Um, but it was just kind of like everything kind of turned to zombies and I

was going, Oh, okay.

Well, this, I agree with you about the hive mother part.

I really enjoyed that aspect of it.

I really enjoyed how like bulbous she was and like laying these huge eggs.

Well, yeah.

And I want to be clear.

I really, I was digging that until they had her speak.

And then I'm like, okay, this is yeah.

And the weird movements that she did, like the jerky movements, uh, that was

kind of, yeah, I agree that was kind of weird.

Um, I enjoyed the, uh, the clone troopers, the, uh, whenever they're going down

there to find bears, they take with them about 10 clone troopers and they get

picked off kind of like one by one, like very alien-ish, like it's like a, like

to go upstairs to really relay something.

And then they're like, they're about to take it out and you hear this scream

down the hall.

And I was like, that was pretty cool.

And then also too, I didn't mention it on the last episode, but both episodes,

I noticed you're chanting.

Do you remember talking about the chanting on the last episode?

I wondered if you would pick up.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Cause you, cause you, you said something about it and I was like, I didn't hear

it.

And then I saw it in the first episode where they're opening up the gates.

It's like, Oh, and then in this one too, uh, whenever they're entering into the

catacombs, it's like this a little bit lower and it's, it's not as loud as the

other one was going.

Kind of thing.

And I was like, Oh, that's pretty good.

There are certain entities, like kind of like really good sound effects into

these.

And I thought that was pretty good.

Yeah.

I enjoyed the, I enjoyed the catacomb thing.

I, I really felt like there was a little bit of unbelievability for me whenever

they're like, just shoot the columns.

I'm like, dude, you're going to trap yourself.

Like, like you would trap yourself.

I mean, it's just kind of like, I don't know.

Like if you look at the maps of the first ones where the two Padawans go in, it's

like crisscross and all sorts of stuff.

I'm like, you can't just shoot columns out and expect to not collapse something

big that you can't get out.

I don't know.

That was my only kind of pet peeve about the, uh, the, the descent maybe is the

best way to call it.

I, I can understand that, but that is an established trope, right?

Yeah.

I agree.

If the heroes say, shoot out the columns and collapse the cave, it's a given that

that's only going to fall on the bad guys.

Yeah, I agree.

And I enjoyed the fact too, that the zombies were kind of, they were smart

whenever they would attack, but they weren't whenever they weren't attacking.

Like it almost is like she had the control over him.

So they didn't suspect that like Rex or it wasn't Rex, but the other, the other

Clint troopers surround them with the lights.

And, uh, I thought that was kind of neat.

I thought that was cool.

That would be one picked up on that really quick, which is like, just cut

your lights on at the same time.

Uh, we'll blind them and I think it'd be okay.

Um, I did enjoy the fact that he wanted to take that one worm out with it.

And it came, it was just like, I ain't doing that.

And he's like, stepped on it.

It was like, you can, when you see something, he said something like you can

do experiments off my boot or something like that.

Yeah.

Like, yeah.

Okay.

Sample my boot.

Yeah.

You can sample my boot.

Yeah.

That's what it was.

And, uh, uh, that was, yeah, that was very frustrating.

Cause I was totally on Obi-Wan's side there.

I'm like, yeah, you study them, learn what they're, what they're, how

does, how does this all work?

But, um, yeah, they're both playing their characters very well.

It was a good episode.

I liked it.

I liked it better.

I liked it better than the previous episode.

Um, I don't know if that was, I don't know why, honestly, like I'm, I'm

trying to think of like something that stuck out where I was just like, that's

pretty cool.

The, the big queen brood mother was neat, but just a claustrophobic feeling.

The, the, you get in too deep before you realize, you know, when they're like,

go, go signal to the, go to the surface and tell them and those guys get taken

out right away.

So it was like, you realized too late that you're, you're, you're trapped.

Also too, I think that, uh, and I'm going back to graphics, John.

Um, it's really easy to make a scary, dark movie where somebody's holding

a flashlight and you're videotaping recording it, but to do that in

animation, it's gotta be pretty hard.

You know what I mean?

Like, cause you've got to know what the light would actually look like.

And like, no, like, cause there was lots of scenes where they're going

through the catacombs descending and they have their lights on and they're

like kind of looking left to right.

And you see very good shadows.

Like you see, like, it looks very lifelike, uh, where they, where they

have light and that, I think that's a pretty impressive thing to do, at

least in animation for me, but.

I'm just gonna start calling you non-graphics John.

Just give me the story.

I don't care about what it looks like.

We're so beyond graphics.

Give me stick figures and tell me the old man's toy.

Draw it in the sand with a stick.

A proper story, stick figure Star Wars, that would be highly entertaining.

I don't know that it held my attention as much as the Zillow Beast did.

The first proper horror Episode I would say. I don't remember any of the other ones that were just like dark and twisted.

I should probably raise my point or two just because of that. It was a proper horror episode.

Like a jump scare episode, not like entrails and all that kind of stuff.

It was good.

Well, again, yeah, jump scares and everything. But the worms crawling around the nostrils and stuff, that was proper gross.

Yeah, that is. That's pretty creepy.

Body horror or whatever that's called.

Yeah, and you almost, honestly, like the viewer up until Obi-Wan does his plan thinks that we're about to see that again.

It's one thing when you see it and you're like, oh, that's gross. Then it's another one and you're like, it's about to happen.

And he's going to let it happen.

And Obi-Wan's weird enough to let this happen.

I mean, the line of the episode has to be when he was like, didn't he say, what do you think, the ear or the nose? Let's take bets or something.

That was fantastic.

To be fair to Anakin, Anakin's like, I think he said ear pretty quick. He was like, ear, I think.

This is a common thing that he expects from his former master.

He's like, yeah, he's a little weird like this. This is his thing. This is his kink.

He likes this kind of stuff, you know?

So, yeah, I don't know. It was a better episode than the other one. It was good. I liked it. I liked it.

I had not seen Visions episode seven.

I enjoyed Visions episode seven pretty well.

Like, it's in my top three of the Visions episodes that we watched.

How did you feel about Visions episode seven?

I did something in a former life to deserve this.

It was good.

Now, I wrote in my notes, I know the reason that if Jon likes this, I know why.

The voice work.

I had to look the voices up.

I thought that voice, that's a good voice.

I was thrown off by the fact that he's voicing the person I call Trailer Park Qui-Gon.

Trailer Park Qui-Gon is excellent.

Yes, he was.

That was a little disconcerting.

And to be fair to him, to be fair to Dollar Store Qui-Gon, he was very slow to react to things.

And it led you to a belief that maybe he was actually slow.

You know what I mean?

He paused before he said something and it didn't feel like a wise pause.

Like, I'm really concentrating on this. Let me take The Force in.

It was just like a, oh, you're talking to me kind of thing.

I didn't quite pick up on that, but you're right, actually.

That was kind of sitting in my subconscious.

It was very slow to react to stuff.

It was not a wise pause. It was just slow.

It was like, okay, let's move on.

And I just took that as the necessary yin to the yang of the young Jedi Wan.

I'm sure that is exactly what it was meant as.

I'm 100% positive that's what it was meant as.

But just to me, I was just kind of like, okay, let's keep the story going.

Come on.

But, yeah, I immediately, when I first heard it, I thought, this cannot be Harrison Ford.

Because he has a little bit of Harrison.

It sounds like Harrison Ford a little bit.

I'm like, they did not get Harrison Ford to come back and voice some Jedi.

And I was like, if they did, that's the coolest thing in the world, because he didn't get to voice one previously.

But then I kept listening to it, and I was like, I know this voice.

I know this voice. I know this voice.

And then it finally hit on me.

Because it really actually wasn't because of Jedi.

David Harbour was a Jedi.

Jordan Fisher played Dan Gavash.

Dan is Dan.

He says the word Dan.

Dan is the younger kid.

And T'Ajin is the master.

T'Ajin?

T'Ajin. T-A-J-I-N.

T'Ajin.

I felt that was setting his character up for being really dark.

All the signs are there. This kid's going to die.

The two Jedi samurai swords were pretty darn cool, too.

visions slant on it.

It's like, why do they have pointy tips?

They're clearly

meant to be whatever that kind of sword's called.

The short saber sword thing.

I feel like saber samurai sword.

Yeah, you know what I'm saying.

You're right. It's more of a saber.

Yeah, but they're lightsabers.

All we've ever seen of lightsabers

is just...

Beams of laser.

They're laser swords.

It was overdone, but you got to do something.

You knew that if you

were going to be doing the artwork for

visions, you had to come up with a cool lightsaber.

Because you're out of canon.

Just like the Umbrella one from the first episode. Remember?

How it was so weird, but it was so kind of cool, too?

That one would be close to

this one in the sense that this is Star Wars

and yet it's not Star Wars.

So, you know, it's...

But I was okay with it because it's a good story.

It's a good little story.

So would you rate this as your favorite visions?

Oh, absolutely.

I'm still torn between the first one and this one.

I really enjoyed the first one.

This one by a mile.

If for nothing else, the kill shot.

You think everything's over and then he blows everything up.

And he kind of melts away in this weird

gunky stuff, too.

So we didn't learn anything.

he knows that he can't do anything.

He's like, oh, this is a missed opportunity.

This guy came and hunt us down and we still didn't get it.

And I enjoyed the big beast, too, that was slaughtered.

They set that up well. Beware of these guys.

You're a Padawan. Just be careful.

These guys can be... These animals can be kind of crazy.

And then the first thing that happens on this one

is that it's got his throat slit.

And then the guy's behind him. I'm like, yeah, cool.

And it was a cool shot, too, whenever they showed

the size difference between them. I'm like, this does not matter.

Yeah, it was good. It was a good episode.

I'm still going to put it behind the first one.

Visions won. But yeah, it was good.

I liked it better than all the other ones.

Definitely my favorite of the Vision series.

I never this is that's one of the things I love about the show

is that I didn't read the graphic novel or comics.

I don't know what I assumed you had.

Yes, I don't know which one it was.

I think I want to say there was an actual comic.

But yeah, I didn't read this one.

I mean, I knew of it.

And well, let me take it back.

I didn't know of it until they started filming it.

And so I was like, oh, they're actually doing it.

I say something, you know, message board or something like they're doing

an umbrella Academy show.

So I investigated it.

So I knew at that point that it was a comic or graphic novel.

But no, I didn't know any.

I never read it or anything like that. So.

Well, I will say, and I'm betting you agree that season three best by far.

Yeah, it was. It was really good.

It really was.

And we're not going to spoil anything because you haven't seen it.

But this was you can spoil.

You can say the setup for the. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

We have the setting, so basically the end of the last season we dropped.

If you don't want to know about it,

cut your podcast off because we're about to talk about the end of season two.

They time travel.

They successfully time travel all get back.

But time has changed in a back to future kind of way.

And they end up in what was the The Umbrella Academy,

but is now the house of the Sparrows, I think is what they call it.

The Sparrow House.

Sparrow Academy.

It's Sparrow Academy.

No, it's just Sparrow.

Sparrow Academy.

And they land and end up having to

have a confrontation with four new members of the team

and their dead brother, who was

used to talk to.

What is the guy's character?

He's the best character in the show.

The one. Oh, God.

The one that can actually talk to the dead brother.

Yep.

Oh, anyways, we're not we're not going to look it up.

We're not going to look it up.

We're just going to sound like idiots

because we are raving about the show and can't remember that character's name.

The drunk Jesus. Yes, he is so good.

He's such a good actor and he's such a good character.

Yeah.

Yeah. So so anyways, they they jump back to another timeline,

maybe is the best way to say it.

And it ends up being this new Sparrow Academy.

And the father is still the father and the mother, still the mother.

Pogo's still kind of around.

And I don't know. It's just good.

It was a really good storytelling.

It was really good writing.

Gorey and a lot of parts.

Yeah. And and and Elliot Page's character is really good.

Like, there's a lot of really good writing around his character.

Like, it's like it's like

the and I don't want to ruin it.

I'm not going to I'm not going to I can't say the scene.

Yeah, you're dancing. Yeah.

Well, there's one scene that is so good.

It is. It's like one of the best scenes of the entire show.

But if I tell you what happens in that scene, it ruins.

Tell me. Tell me what it is.

And if it's if it's I think it's too spoilery, we'll just cut it.

Look, it's the party part.

At the end of the world,

I can't say the word, but I can't say the word.

And you're like, who's getting like, OK, well, these two are going to

I'm just going to say the party scene, the party scene

toward the end of the world.

Party scene. All right.

It's the party scene toward the end of the season

where they're celebrating something.

And I'm not going to talk about what it is,

but it's just a weird mix of characters.

And they all interact in a place in a way that you honestly feel

that these characters would interact,

especially given their backgrounds, their stories

and their relationships with each other.

So I don't know. I thought it was really, really good.

I really appreciate that.

It was a really good show.

It really is.

I had forgotten about it because how long have you been

since season two?

Season two, I believe, came out at the beginning of covid.

If I remember. Oh, God.

So, yeah, for three lifetimes ago.

So, yeah, that's I totally forgot about it.

And when season three came out, I held off.

I don't know why I had other things to watch.

It finally got around to it and enjoyed it immensely.

It's definitely worth the watch. That's good.

Yeah, very, very job.

I really enjoyed the season.

And it's yeah, it's it's really, really good.

And it's one of those things, too, that

it's almost like a Game of Thrones thing where like

there's characters that you hated or you loved at one point

that you kind of hate now.

And there's characters that you hated at one point.

You kind of love them now. It's a very it's very.

And and it's not because of one specific thing.

It's just something that's built up over time

and it's built up over three seasons.

And I love that. I love that fact.

Like, it's just really good writing and it's very continuous writing.

It's almost it's almost like like like an like an arc,

like an arc. Yeah.

Like a character arc.

If I can coin a phrase. Yeah, you can.

But but usually in TV with with me, at least it's usually

I know like what com reset, sitcom reset.

And there's usually one specific thing

that either happen on screen or off screen

that you're supposed to change your view of the character for.

And and when you have series that like change your view

about somebody over a long, a long time, that's

you should appreciate that just because it was planned out that way. Usually.

Yeah, I don't know.

I remember like Adam is amazing.

This last season was two.

One was really good. One got me hooked. Two was good.

It wasn't near as good as one or three and definitely three,

I think was the best of all of them. Yeah, I agree with that.

Yeah, it was good. It was a very, very good show.

I haven't been watching that much of a watch, mostly sports

for the last week or two, did watch, started watching.

On Disney+ Plus they have an industrial light and magic series that's about ILM and like the early start of it and how Luke started

Kind of Star Wars was the the first

Kind of core thing that they did and then you know

They kind of built up over time and have you watched any of that or watch the preview for that at all? It's on Disney+ Plus

Yeah, so I think I saw it. Yeah, but no it's six episodes like an hour each

I think I'm on episode three right now

But the first episode was about how hot it's kind of neat is coming off of American Graffiti

Lucas had a pretty decent budget for Star Wars actually and even though it was kind of this weird film that nobody

Knew if it would make it or not

But so he took like I think like a million bucks

But you know, it's huge back then and gave it to pretty much all these like special effects guys in

California and the valley it was just like hey, look I'm going to shoot this movie in London while I'm gone

I need you I have these like 400 set pieces for the movie that I need to look really good for special effects and all

These games really kind of cool because like all these guys were just like a kind of like a club

Like they all worked at different studios and commercials

They all worked on different like soap operas and like, you know

Some of them new rigging some of them new camera work some of them new and this is really wild that they need millwork

Because they had to mill machines that they could actually make the cameras run on like the train tracks stuff like that

You know that they get shots with oh, wow. Okay, so like so you have all these different

like disciplines and

they have to all kind of work together to create what he created just because

So I think most people listen pockets have seen 2001 space odyssey

So like Kubrick like kind of like made this new

Form of movie viewing like, you know something that actually looked like a legitimate

Not just prop, you know silver

Spaceship or silver flying saucer flying through you know space like he you know

He took time and made like these very detailed props and all this other kind of stuff

So you tell all these guys are just completely enamored with that, you know, and then they're like, okay

so we've got to do this like

Pretty much like World War one Red Baron space movie and all of them to it's very honest brutally honest, baby

I mean, it's like all of them are like, you know

I signed off for this for like two or three months and I read the script and they all kind of pan the script

They're all just like what are we talking about?

like I don't get it but it's kind of cool because I get to work with stuff with a lot of money and and

And and then so basically then I'm not trying to ruin anything but Lucas comes back from London

He's like he's like so show me what you got and they show him like three small clips out of the 400 and he's like

Holy crap guys. What is going on here?

And then it kind of shows other stuff like they're all

Partying and like having fun and like they're all young and you know

So it's it's it's a very neat like it's one of those things that you can really honestly see happening, you know

After you've aged a bit you're just kind of like yeah

I could totally see that happening with a lot of money

But uh, but then they get it back on track and it's on Episode 2 and it's really good so far

I've only won third episode but I highly recommend it. I think it's called industrial light magic. That's it. Just ILM and it's on Disney+ Plus

It's a pretty good documentary series. I

It's good, especially you know

It's it's kind of a sidecar to the podcast because it's not chronological or anything like that

But um, you know kind of shows the background of the making of and all that kind of stuff. It's pretty good

I highly recommend it. No, I know I know I saw it on the dashboard and didn't really pay it too much money

Yeah, that's the thing with now you're you're selling me on it. Yeah

Well, that's the thing with Disney+ Plus is like I feel like if you don't if you don't know about a show and know exactly

Your target the thing to watch all you have is that one little icon to judge?

I mean, yeah

I mean

Maybe your people are not like me and maybe they go to it and go watch the trailer and all that kind of stuff

But to me, it's just like I have such little time to watch stuff

They're like you got to catch me with that little bitty a little bit of icon

You know, I mean like you gotta be like what is industrial like magic like show me like um

And maybe Netflix is the one that's learned this because of how long they've been operating

But like with Netflix if you hover over something it'll immediately starts playing stuff in the background

You know what? I mean? Like yeah, that makes me want to set my TV on fire

Well, so I don't I and I'm different god. I hate that so much. Yes. Yeah, I don't cuz I'm like, okay

Well, it may catch my eye

like let me watch a little bit of a million out and stuff I think and then move on the tile that you when you

Put it on the tile. It didn't like spans the half the screen. You're like no no

No, you gotta really have a good shrinks down and spans an axe

You really didn't have like a good UI for that though

Because like if you can put it in a place in the background and like hover over it and then have it start playing but

In the background like you kind of get a little bit like you're not messing with the menuing but you're but you're changing the background

So that it actually shows you a little bit of what you're might be seeing

I think I think it's a good way to do that

I didn't hate any less doesn't have it and then Netflix

This is about Hulu does it too?

I believe I think if you hover over something it'll or like about put your controller over so Netflix was

Yeah, I mean that folks was the first one to do it

I think cuz they were one of the first to exist right but no everybody I've talked to hates that nice

But again, if not all you got to go by is is the little bitty picture then like a like a three

And this feels like that.

It's neat.

I'm definitely going to keep watching it.

But it feels like a cool little side story that just is kind of funny.

And I like that she breaks the fourth wall and like I don't know.

Yeah, it really kind of feels it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Yeah, it's having fun with it because I mean, come on, She Hulk.

I mean, come on.

And I there's so much bashing and really kind of hate hate trade out there for this.

It's yeah, it's entertaining.

What's the problem?

Yeah, it's like I said, like it amazes me if you don't even find this entertaining

and still love like Hawkeye, like Hawkeye was so good to me because it was like this

like Christmas caper thing, like it was just this like weird, you know, a couple

of episodes of this show with really good actors.

And it was funny and it was hilarious.

And I enjoyed it.

And that's the same thing I'm getting from this.

It's just kind of like, yeah, this is really good.

This is this is what, you know, when you read comics, you don't get the core stories

every single issue and you get these kind of really fun side things.

And then at the end of them, you're like, that was really creative.

That was that was really good.

They use the character really well and it advanced the story some.

And like for me, I really enjoyed the back and forth between her and Bruce in the first

episode. Like I was like, oh, OK, it's pretty good.

Like it's like I don't know, it's kind of like a cool training montage that you would

see in like the 80s movies.

Like, I don't know. It was fun.

I like I enjoy.

The 80s training montage.

That is fantastic.

It certainly seems to me like as more and more people get into doing YouTube videos

and podcasts and what have you, where it's it's their livelihood.

And so how do they generate clicks?

Yeah, you get some. Yeah.

you know forever and then this guy comes in.

He like introduces himself.

He's like, here's the map to the bathrooms the good bathrooms and everybody's like, thank you.

Like this is so good.

They said it so sincerely.

No, it was perfect because that was all you've ever worked in an office setting,

you know exactly what they're talking about and it's just like it's just like there's a good bathroom

and bad is just a perfect script that was that was really really good.

Yeah, it's a good show.

I mean, it's a good show.

I hate that people are giving it given it any type of hate honestly because I think that it's not deserved.

I think that if you look at it and kind of look at it as a fun thing and also to like I can't imagine people

that like really hate something so bad and then log on to Disney+ Plus to watch it another episode of it.

Like it's just like it's just like just quit just move on.

There's so much content out there.

There's so much good stuff out there, especially to I think all the stuff

that got built up with covid like I'm like all of its kind of getting like edited and released now.

So like don't just go watch something else man.

I mean don't have you truly never hate watched something because that is human nature my friend.

I I have probably I don't want to call it hate watching because there's not much that I hate.

I would say that there's some stuff that I know is so bad and like be right that I will totally watch it.

let's say this even with visions and I know it's not up your alley and I know you don't like it.

You're not hate watching it.

Okay, so Episode one was new and fresh and I didn't know what was going on and then from two to six.

Yeah, I only watched him because I had to okay.

There's a big difference, but that's not it.

That's not what you agree.

That's not hate.

I've never watched anything.

I don't think I have honest like I like there's so much there's such a small finite amount of my time that why

on earth would I spend it watching something I hate because they I'm sure that there were a lot of people

who hate watched Game of Thrones in the sense that I hate that character so much and I want him.

Okay, that's different.

That's different.

That's like you're you're watching for a particular character.

I that is not that's the opposite of hate watching that's love watching because the writers are so good that you dislike

that character that much.

Well, I agree with that wholeheartedly, but that's not okay.

Hey, what you more applies to like political shows or you know, the commentary shows where you're you you hate some

somebody on the right and so you watch that show just to pick them apart.

Yeah, I don't know that that's a true hate watch, but I don't have the time.

I would say it's a fiction.

Yeah, right.

Oh people love because they love they love feeling that that energy and they love proving themselves in their own

minds that they're right, right?

He just said something stupid and I know it's stupid and I can prove it to all my friends the next time I see them.

Yeah, like that's that's hate watching.

Okay.

Yeah, I don't do that.

I honestly don't know if I've ever done that but that's all because maybe I just like maybe when I retire, I'll just be like

all right, let's log on to Fox News and watch the Fox News like it just you know, I mean go ride the golf cart around the

village.

Yeah, this is like I don't have the time and I did you know and also to like I just like I feel like there's so many different

things to watch like why would I do that?

Like why do you want to do that?

I don't know.

It's just it.

I understand why people do it.

I just don't I don't get it.

I I unfortunately do get it.

I don't really do that either but I know that's a component of human nature and again a lot of people they're doing it.

You find it funny, but they're doing it because I have to make a YouTube episode about this and I have to say yeah,

I agree.

It's all yeah, that's different.

Yeah, that yeah, that's what yeah, when you have a monetization, I don't call it a scheme, but when you have a monetization

channel, yeah, it's in it.

Yeah, it's in it.

It's in it's a best word when you have a monetization incentive to not like something though, but you're at that point you're going in

knowing what your opinion is.

I mean, it's just kind of like you did.

Yes shocker.

Yeah, you did.

It's just but I'm saying that it's just jotting down notes at that point.

It's just note taking on something that you hate.

I thought you meant there are people that dislike something so much that have no monetary reason to watch it or watching it just

despite and that that just kills me because I think there are no there but I really I agree with you.

I think there probably are people to do that but I just like like like there's so much more constructive things you can do with

your time.

I mean, I don't know like, you know, maybe you should go out and create a YouTube.

That's what's terrible.

That's a you go create a YouTube channel that doesn't like it and make some money for yourself off of it.

But then this is the vicious circle that we're talking about, you know, this is the same.

This is the this is the loop that like now you're caught in this thing where you're making money off something and you feel

like you want to criticize everything off the cuff.

Yeah, I yeah.

That just comes with with non-professional content creation like this podcast.

Yeah, you non-professional like this podcast.

I mean, it's just kind of like it's just kind of like yeah, I mean I it's weird that now you can like

We never would have said you could make money off something like that.

And now you do have people that make really good money off of it.

And it just creates this circular pattern where people that don't make good money off of it idolize the people that do make good money off of it.

And now you just get this weird, like everybody's got to be one more tick up.

Everybody's got to be 11 or 12.

And yeah, whatever.

I'm not playing a game, Eric. I'm not playing a game.

You've got to learn to pick and choose.

For real.

You gotta learn.

So you've got to pick.

So in my opinion, and I love Twitter and people hate Twitter.

People just despise it.

It's a trash heap, burning heap, you know, all this stuff.

The whole key to Twitter is like, and YouTube, and YouTube is the exact same way,

is never going off your list and prune your list like a maniac.

Like if you start seeing something that you don't like, or somebody's getting something, an opinion that you just don't agree with, like chop it.

Like just chop it, unfollow, you know, don't watch it on YouTube, that kind of thing.

And it becomes a tool for me, at least at that point, because I'm sure everybody's going to be like, oh, now you're just seeing an Echo chamber.

I'm not cutting.

I was thinking the words Echo chamber.

I know, I know, I know.

But I'm not, you're way more political than I am.

But I'm just saying I'm not following these people because of their views, and some of them have views that I don't agree with at all.

I'm following these people because they usually make me laugh, or I enjoy the interactions with them,

or just hearing what they're talking about because their lives, that kind of thing.

And I think that's a tool.

I think that's a good communications tool.

When you start getting to where you're like hate following people and stuff like that, that's crazy to me.

Like I just, I don't know.

I just think you've got to be meticulous in cutting people, and you've got to be able to say, hey, I don't like this anymore.

I'm chopping it.

But stuff like Twitter and YouTube become a really good tool if you don't, I mean if you're able to do that.

I think a lot of people aren't, and I think that you just get bombarded with so much stuff.

Yeah, that's asking a lot of the general populace there.

It is.

But that's your responsibility as a citizen.

I don't know.

As a citizen of this generation.

I knew exactly right when I uttered the word citizen, I was like that is the wrong word to say because I know John is going to be all over it.

And you were like, I barely got the zin out of my mouth before you were like citizen.

I knew where, I could tell where it was going.

I'm not being political, but I'm just saying like as a, I hate to use the word consumer too, that's a terrible word to use.

Consume.

I'm just saying if you wall off your garden and try to let different flowers into your garden or different vegetables into your garden, but still wall it off to like the really bad pesticides.

I don't know what this analogy is going to be.

Keep this analogy going.

This is enjoyable.

So if you wall off your garden and allow some stuff from the outside, even that you don't agree with, grow in your garden, it's not a bad thing.

If you have something that's really terrible, like a GMO crop, I'm just kidding.

I'm totally joking there.

I'm just saying if you have something that's really terrible in your garden, then that's your fault.

You got to figure out.

You need to apply the mulch of informed opinion.

There you go.

And a little fertilizer of love.

And I mean, yeah, you got to be responsible for what you listen to.

I mean, yeah, I totally agree with you.

And the she-oak thing is a great argument.

It's just you're just kind of like, what are we, you know, why do you keep watching this if you hate it so much?

Just find something else to watch.

All right, so next episode, I humbly submit that I have not completely finished the book yet.

So I think that our next podcast is not going to be about Light of the Jedi, which if you guys don't know, when we started this project,

all of The Old Republic stuff had not come out yet.

That's how long ago we started this project.

So while we've been working through in chronological order, all the different episodes and books and comics and drama, audio dramas,

other books have come out that were way before in chronological order, way before in what's called the High Republic.

And what we're trying to do is maybe every like, you know, fifth episode or something,

we'll go back and take some big substantial chunk of that,

which the first one that actually came out for the entire High Republic order was Charles Sewell's Light of the Jedi.

And I've been trying to read it for the last six months.

Nothing on Charles Sewell's plate.

It's just that I've been reading other stuff and I've been busy and all that kind of stuff.

So I'm finally, finally close to very, very close to finishing it up.

I'm not there yet.

So I think next episode we're going to watch episodes.

Let's see, we did six and seven this time, eight and nine, and Visions eight, finish up that series.

And then after that, we'll move on to Light of the Jedi.
