Weequay

The Weequay are a race of sentient beings in the Star Wars universe, hailing primarily from the desert and oceanic planet of Sriluur. Each Weequay's physical features are determined by their particular tribe, however, they largely resemble brown-skinned bald humanoids but have tougher, leathery skins covered in random scales. They have a distinct alien feature of two small tusks sticking out of their lower Jaws. The Weequay are highly spiritual, devoutly following their ancient religion that involves worshiping a variety of gods and goddesses, each of whom guards a specific aspect of Weequay life.

Notable Weequay individuals include Hondo Ohnaka, a pirate leader, and the skiff guards of Jabba the Hutt. The Weequay have a unique pheromone-based method of communication, unnoticeable to many other species, which allows them to silently coordinate in large groups - a characteristic that made them effective in roles such as security. Despite their tough exterior and reputation as fighters, they are generally slow to trust outsiders, emphasizing loyalty and familial bonds within their clans. This emphasis is reflected in their societal structure, as they are governed by a loose confederation of clans and tribes, each with its own chieftain and laws.
