Verpine

The Verpine are a humanoid insectoid species native to the Roche asteroid field in the Star Wars universe. These beings possess a thin, lanky body, with a chitinous exoskeleton, compound eyes, jointed antennas and limbs, which give them an ant-like appearance. They are known for their unique capability of 'radio-sense' which allows them to sense electromagnetic waves, granting them excellent mechanical skills and making them highly adept at repairing and creating complex machinery and technology. The Verpine's advancements in technology, particularly their starship and weapon manufacturing, are highly prized across the galaxy.

Socially, the Verpine function as a communal hive-mind, with each individual contributing to the Community decision making. Despite their shared consciousness amongst the asteroid nests, Verpine are capable of functioning individually when away from the hive. They are primarily known for their roles as technicians, mechanics, and engineers due to their affinity for technology. However, the Verpine's pacifist nature makes them dislike combat, but they will fight to defend their nests if threatened. Their diplomatic nature and technological prowess have made the Verpine a respected species in the Star Wars galaxy.
