Ogemite

Species

The Ogemite species is an extraterrestrial species feature in the Star Wars universe. Little is known about this species and they are only featured in the Expanded Universe, making their debut in "Star Wars Droids 7: Star Wars According to the Droids, Book II," a comic book published in December 1987. The Ogemites are recognized for their unique physiology, specifically their spiky horns and their flamboyant coloration. They have a set of numerous horns that cover both their neck and back, adding a distinctive look to their appearance.

The Ogemites are almost exclusively seen in the comic storyline wherein they were introduced. During this time, the iconic droids R2-D2 and C-3PO find themselves stranded on the Ogemite homeworld, which is also called Og. As the story unfolds, the droids end up helping the Ogemites fend off a group of invaders threatening their planet. This storyline offers one of the few, yet insightful glimpses into the culture and daily life of the Ogemites.

In addition to their unique physiology, the Ogemites are known as a rather peaceful species. Their society is governed by a monarchy, with the story in the comics revealing that they have a king. Their King, in particular, has been portrayed as a compassionate and friendly figure, which extends to the impression of the overall Ogemite society.

Unfortunately, the Ogemites' story was left largely unexplored in the Star Wars universe. Their solitary appearance in the Expanded Universe did not leave much room for further exploration of their species. As such, much of their culture, society and overall impact to the Star Wars narrative remain veiled in obscurity.

the Ogemites add another layer to the complex, diverse galaxy of Star Wars. Though their contribution to the overall storyline retains a minor scope, they nevertheless encompass the ingenuity and diversity that Star Wars is renowned for. Their unique visual design and their role in the Expanded Universe offer an interesting, if brief, perspective into an almost uncharted corner of this revered franchise.
