Umbaran

The Umbarans, also known as the Shadow People, are a species from the Star Wars universe hailing from the planet of Umbara which is located within the Expansion Region of the galaxy. Their physical appearance is characterized by pale skin, gaunt features, and large colorless eyes adapted to their dark homeworld environment. Umbarans are known for their advanced technology and skills in manipulation which lead to their success in politics. They possess unique technologies such as hover tanks, Starfighters and infantry support vehicles which are prominently seen during The Clone Wars series.

Throughout Star Wars lore, Umbarans have been depicted as deep, complex characters. Their race has contributed to both the Sith and Jedi orders, with the most notable Umbaran being Sly Moore, Chancellor Palpatine's staff aide. Due to their gift for subtle manipulation, many found their way into politically powerful and influential positions. Despite being a part of the Galactic Republic, the Umbarans wavered during the Clone Wars and, under the influence of Separatist-sympathizer Pong Krell, temporarily sided with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. However, after a military campaign by the Republic, Umbara was brought back into Republic fold.
