Rae Sloane

Rae Sloane is a character in the Star Wars universe. She first appeared in the novel "A New Dawn" by John Jackson Miller and later on, became a recurring character in many of the "Star Wars: Aftermath" series books, written by Chuck Wendig. Sloane's character is depicted as a ruthless and ambitious woman who rises through the Imperial ranks to become one of the most powerful leaders.

Rae Sloane was born on the planet Ganthel and later attended the Royal Imperial Academy on Coruscant to become an officer in the Imperial Navy. She is known for her service as the captain of the Star Destroyer Ultimatum, and later, as the admiral in the Imperial Navy. She had an unwavering loyalty to the Empire, believing in the order and stability that it brought to the galaxy.

After the fall of the Empire and the death of Emperor Palpatine, Sloane played a significant role in the Empire's remnant as one of the few surviving high-ranking officers. She essentially became the de facto leader of the Empire and was instrumental in its efforts to regroup and overpower the rebellious New Republic.

Sloane is also noted for her opposition to Gallius Rax, the self-proclaimed Counselor to the Empire, whom she sees as a threat to the real values of the Empire. This opposition culminates in the Battle of Jakku, where she dispatches Rax and takes the remaining forces into the Unknown Regions of space.

Ultimately, her actions lead to the rise of the First Order, the militant state inspired by the principles of the Galactic Empire. Despite her absence from the film adaptations, Rae Sloane remains a significant character within the Star Wars expanded universe and is central to the transition from the original Empire to the newer First Order.
