First Order

The First Order is an Interstellar political and military entity in the Star Wars universe. Introduced in the 2015 film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the First Order emerged from the remnants of the Galactic Empire, which had been defeated by the Rebel Alliance in "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" (1983). The First Order, like the Empire before it, seeks to establish a totalitarian order throughout the galaxy and destroy any remnants of the New Republic and the Resistance.

The First Order was founded by former Imperial officers, nobles, and technocrats who escaped to the Unknown Regions, a largely unexplored area of the galaxy, following the Battle of Jakku. Many members of the Resistance are former New Republic military personnel, who share Leia's conviction in facing the First Order.

Throughout the sequel trilogy of films, the First Order and the Resistance engage in a relentless struggle for power and control, with both sides suffering substantial losses and victories. Key battles include the destruction of the Starkiller Base in "The Force Awakens" and the Battle of Crait in "The Last Jedi" (2017). Ultimately, the First Order's reign is brought to an end during the climactic events of "The Rise of Skywalker" (2019).
