Kwi

The Kwi are a species in the Star Wars universe that originate from the planet Dathomir, known from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and the Expanded Universe. They are non-sentient, reptilian creatures that have long lean bodies with large back legs and smaller front limbs, along with dorsal spikes. Despite appearing to be unsophisticated, the Kwi are surprisingly intelligent, mostly shown through their complex social structures and their abilities to understand and cooperate with the sentient species.

In relation to the Star Wars history, the Kwi are known descendants of the Kwa, an ancient and advanced civilization that inhabited Dathomir long before the rise of the Galactic Empire. After the fall of the Kwa, the Infinity Gate which was used by the Kwa for Interstellar travel was turned into stone which caused the regression of the Kwa into a primitive state that led them to evolve into the Kwi. The Kwi’s involvement in Star Wars tale, although subtle, holds significance in the expansiveness of the Star Wars universe's timeline and lore.
