Grogu

Characters

Grogu, initially introduced to the audience as The Child and affectionally nicknamed 'Baby Yoda' by fans, is a centerpiece character in the Disney++ series, "The Mandalorian." Conceived by a race known as the Yoda's species, he was born about 50 years prior to the arrival of Din Djarin, the Mandalorian who unswervingly becomes his protector and surrogate parent. The exact nature of Grogu's species remains largely unknown since no specifics about his home world, evolution, or overall population have been revealed in the Star Wars franchise.

As per "The Mandalorian," Grogu was trained at the Jedi temple on Coruscant during his infancy and somehow managed to escape the onslaught of Order 66. The details about his existence between this massacre and his eventual encounter with Din Djarin are yet to be revealed. With his ability to use The Force, Grogu has displayed his skills on several occasions, which includes lifting large objects, healing injuries, and even using Force choke.

Despite possessing inherent Force skills, Grogu is not quite disciplined in utilizing them. Seeing this, Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi Padawan, reluctantly declines to train Grogu because of his emotional attachment to the Mandalorian. This bond, according to her, could lead Grogu to the dark side of the Force. Viewing the necessity of Grogu's force abilities training, the Mandalorian is advised by Ahsoka to take Grogu to the ancient Jedi temple located on Tython.

At the close of the second season, an iconic character of Star Wars, Luke Skywalker, makes a surprise appearance. He comes after sensing Grogu’s Force presence from Tython, and upon slaying Moff Gideon's Dark Troopers, Luke takes Grogu with him for Jedi Training. The scene concludes the duo's journey, which was focused on getting the young Force user to the Jedi despite the threats and obstacles in their path.

It will be interesting to follow Grogu's journey in the subsequent seasons of "The Mandalorian" and the other interconnected series. With his cute appearance and intriguing backstory, Grogu has quickly become one of the fan-favorite characters in the Star Wars universe.
