Darth Malgus

Darth Malgus, born Veradun, is a Sith Lord within Star Wars Legends, specifically The Old Republic era, a galaxy-spanning political and conflict entity. Originated from the MMORPG video game "Star Wars: The Old Republic" developed by BioWare, he established himself as one of the most menacing figures in the Sith Empire. His story expands through novels, elaborate storylines, and vast lore surrounding the franchise.

Veradun, hailing from the planet Dromund Kaas, was born into a somewhat privileged family, his father having a position in the Imperial Military. From a young age, he showed signs of a strong connection to The Force. Despite his father's initial reluctance, Veradun was eventually sent to the Sith Academy on Korriban upon manifesting his dark side abilities by killing a Twi'lek servant without remorse.

Upon adopting the name "Darth Malgus", he took part in numerous battles and conflicts during the Great Galactic War and was a key factor in the Sith Empire's victory in many of the conflicts. Darth Malgus led the assault on the Jedi temple during the Sacking of Coruscant, a crucial event that led to distraught among the Jedi Order and heralded new control for the Sith.

Malgus envisioned an Empire devoid of political infighting and corruption, seeking a diverse Empire that would be stronger for encompassing alien species rather than excluding them. To achieve this he attempted a coup, declaring a new Empire that would rise above the existing one. However, the coup failed, and Malgus was presumed dead for several years.

In truth, Darth Malgus was kept alive and hidden by the Sith Emperor, used as a weapon when needed but held in stasis when not. His story in the Star Wars: Old Republic era shows a character with a complex ideology and set of ambitions, differentiating him from many Sith Lords who are driven merely by power or evil.
