Cloud City is an iconic location in the Star Wars universe, first appearance was in "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" (1980). It is a gas mining colony floating above Bespin, which is a gas giant planet in the Star Wars galaxy. The city was founded by an explorer called Ecclessis Figg and originally served as a mining colony focusing on extracting valuable Tibanna gas from Bespin's atmosphere. Calrissian, originally a gambler and smuggler, became the Baron Administrator of Cloud City after winning a high-stakes sabacc game. As the city's leader, he aimed to maintain neutrality and protect it from Imperial entanglements.

One of the most memorable events that took place in Cloud City is the betrayal of Lando Calrissian and the capture of Han Solo by Darth Vader and the Empire. This dramatic event occurs as a trap set by Vader to lure in Luke Skywalker and his friends. Following the capture of Solo, he is infamously frozen in carbonite and handed over to the bounty hunter Boba Fett.
