Battle of Teth

Events

The Battle of Teth was a significant conflict during The Clone Wars, a pivotal and widespread conflict in the Star Wars universe. It took place on the jungle world of Teth, located in the Wild Space region. This battle, which took place early in the war, was fought between the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) and the Galactic Republic.

The battle was set in motion when Viceroy Nute Gunray of the CIS kidnapped Rotta the Huttlet, the son of Jabba the Hutt, a powerful figure in the galaxy with control over key space routes. The CIS plotted to frame the Jedi for Rotta's abduction, in an attempt to gain Jabba's support, and kept the Huttlet hostage at a monastery on Teth.

After Rotta’s kidnapping, he was held in the B'omarr Monastery. The Jedi received intelligence of his location and dispatched a team led by Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan Ahsoka Tano. They led a clone force, called Torrent Company, in an assault on the monastery to rescue the Huttlet.

The mission to rescue Rotta was difficult due to the Vertical City's naturally defensive position surrounded by a sheer cliff face. However, Skywalker and Tano, along with the clone forces, managed to overcome the Separatist droids and reach the monastery, rescuing Rotta.

However, Count Dooku, who was secretly orchestrating the conflict for his own ends, sent his apprentice Asajj Ventress to retake the monastery. Ventress and her droid army pushed back Torrent Company, and a pitched battle ensued. Master Obi-Wan Kenobi soon arrived with Republic reinforcements to aid in the fight.

In the end, despite the CIS's efforts, the Jedi were able to outmaneuver their opponents, ensuring Rotta's safe return to his father. The Battle of Teth played a crucial role in the Republic securing the Hutt clan's support, thus gaining free passage through their space lanes, and was the opening salvo in the galactic-spanning Clone Wars.
