Wirutid

The Wirutid were a unique and ancient sentient species within the Star Wars lore. This species was made entirely of energy and existed solely in the hyperdrive cores of space vessels. Though they did not have any physical form in the way humanoids or droids do, they could still interact with the physical world around them. The Wirutid were skilled at manipulating electronics and mechanics allowing them to influence computers, systems, and even demonstrate piloting abilities.

Introduced in Doctor Aphra Issue 3, they came about as a result of a mishap during a deep space expedition. Exploration vessels trying to make longer and faster hyperjumps led to the formation of these entities somehow. As well as appearing unexpectedly in technology-based ecosystems, the Wirutid also displayed a high level of intelligence. They had their language, with complex communication taking place between these entities via electronic signals. Given their nature, these energy beings were not seen as life forms by those unaware of their existence, often being mistaken for glitches or malfunctions within the systems they inhabited.
