Task Force 99

Military Groups

Task Force 99, also known as "Scar Squadron," is a special stormtrooper unit of the Galactic Empire’s military. Named in tribute to Clone 99, a defective clone trooper who helped save Kamino from a Separatist invasion during The Clone Wars, Task Force 99 is composed of elite stormtroopers led by Sergeant Kreel. Each member is distinctive not just in their advanced skills, but with their unique armors and individual characteristics that separate them from traditional faceless stormtroopers.

Sergeant Kreel, a dynamic character who once operated as an undercover spy in Grakkus the Hutt’s arena, heads the unit. Under the pseudo "Game Master", he was close to Luke Skywalker during his brief time as a gladiator. After revealing his affiliation with the Empire, Kreel earned his position ahead of Task Force 99 with his extraordinary combat abilities and tactical skills.

The members of Task Force 99 include Zuke, Cav, Aiolin, Mic, Misty, and Shrap - each having their respective specialties. Zuke, the sniper, is known for his extreme precision, whereas Cav, the demolitions expert, excels in creating bombs and explosive devices. Aiolin and Mic showcase teamed lethality while Misty acts as an aerial threat, skillful in jet packs and flight. Lastly, Shrap, as the name implies, specializes in wielding various blaster rifles and heavy weaponry. Each member brings a unique set of skills to the table, countered by no other force in the galaxy.

Throughout the Star Wars comic series, Task Force 99 represents a severe threat to the Rebellion. Notably, in the "Last Flight of the Harbinger" storyline, Task Force 99 took over a Rebel Alliance vessel, the "Harbinger," creating significant challenges for Luke Skywalker and his team. The group's built reputation for savvy, strategic superiority, and tenacity has made them terrifying opponents to the Rebels.

Task Force 99 presents a distinct facet of the Empire's extensive range, showing that the segment isn’t merely composed of faceless troops but also includes specialized, extraordinary individuals. The introduction of these unique stormtroopers creates deeper layers of conflict and presents a more complex view of the Empire's might.
