Taloraan

The Taloraan, also known as Taloraan City, features prominently in Star Wars lore as a floating city located on the gas giant Taloraan. Situated in the Dalonbian sector of the Core Worlds, this city is characterized by many unique, balloon-like structures that draw the planet's lighter-than-air gasses into the city to maintain its buoyancy.

The planet Taloraan is one of the famous gas giants in the Star Wars universe. With a breathable atmosphere, it provides an aerial wonderland for different species and travelers alike. Due to its less solid state, settlements like Taloraan City are suspended mid-air, contributing to its extraordinary scenery and lifestyle. The inhabitants utilize floatboats for transportation, navigating through the sea of clouds and the majestic structures of the city.

These floating metropolises are home to various species, though they're primarily inhabited by the Defel, colloquially known as wolfmen due to their distinctive appearance. Living secluded lives, the Defel come out mainly during Taloraan's darker periods when infrared radiation is heightened, which syncs well with their unique visual spectrum.

At the heart of Taloraan's economy is the extensive production and export of deuterium gas. This valuable gas is used in fusion reactions, most notably in starship fuel cells, and is a critical aspect of the city's and planet's survival. Therefore, its extraction and trade are watched over closely by the local inhabitants.

Pivotal in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, Taloraan City is the setting for the episode "Duel of the Droids". The protagonists, Anakin Skywalker and his trusty droid R2-D2, visit the city to seek out a replacement for R2, leading to significant events unfolding in this unique location, contributing to its prominence in Star Wars literature and animated series.
