Roos Tarpals

Roos Tarpals was a Captain in the Gungan Grand Army from the planet Naboo, first introduced in the Star Wars prequel film, Episode I: The Phantom Menace. A brave and loyal warrior, he belongs to the amphibious Gungan species and donned the traditional Gungan armor with aquatic goggles. Tarpals spoke in a Gungan accent and a distinctive manner of speech, which set him apart from other characters in the Star Wars universe.

As a skilled military captain, Roos Tarpals played a pivotal role in the Battle of Naboo, helping protect his people from Trade Federation invasion. Under the leadership of Boss Nass, Tarpals worked closely with the Naboo Royal Security Forces to formulate a plan that would ultimately liberate Naboo from the grip of the Trade Federation.

While Roos Tarpals initially held some distrust for the Jedi, particularly Qui-Gon Jinn, he eventually learned to put his personal feelings aside to work in tandem with the Jedi Knights for the greater good. Tarpals commanded the Gungan army in the epic battle against the invading droid army, personally leading his troops on the front lines of the battlefield.

In addition to his military prowess, Roos Tarpals also exhibited impressive physical capabilities. Tarpals was a strong swimmer, capable of reaching great depths and engaging in underwater combat when necessary. As a skilled marksman, he employed the Gungan traditional weapon known as the cesta or atlatl, which launched energy balls at his enemies.

Tarpals' presence was not limited to The Phantom Menace. He also appeared in various episodes of the animated TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In this series, Tarpals played a significant role in defending his people from the wrath of the Separatist general, General Grievous. He subsequently sacrificed his life to protect his people and his homeworld and was later remembered as a Gungan war hero.

Roos Tarpals can also be found within the Star Wars extended universe, known as the Legends continuity. In Legends, Tarpals eventually became a General of the Gungan Grand Army and held his position for many years before his death. Roos Tarpals left a lasting impact on Star Wars fans and remains an essential symbol of the Gungan people and their perseverance.
