Carson Teva is a character in the Star Wars universe, named a Marshal to represent the New Republic. He first appeared in the popular series "The Mandalorian." Played by actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Teva acts as a New Republic X-Wing Fighter pilot. Unlike the gritty, cautious world of bounty hunters and crime lords, Teva presents an angle of Law and Order in the universe, standing for the New Republic, which came into power after the fall of the Empire.
Carson Teva meets Din Djarin, the titular Mandalorian, in the second season of the show. After an initial and somewhat hostile encounter, where Teva and his companion Wolf question the legality of his ship, they later end up saving the Mandalorian from a close predicament. This sets forth a fairly friendly relationship between the two parties. Teva goes on to put aside their disagreement and even offers gratitude to the man underneath the Mandalorian's helmet.
Interestingly, Teva was seemingly modeled after his player, actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, who is a self-proclaimed massive Star Wars fan. It's a joy for Lee to join the universe, considering Teva has gradually become a reoccurring character in the franchise. He was also well-received by the fans of the series, applauding his excellent portrayal of an authoritative, yet intriguing character.
Carson Teva is a dedicated officer, committed to continue keeping peace and stability in the galaxy despite the dwindling resources and waning support following the fall of the Empire. Later, he also started investigating the disturbing signs pointing towards the resurgence of the Empire, suggesting that Shadowy Moff Gideon's battalion setting up nests in the Outer Rim could be the tip of the iceberg.
Despite his minor role, Carson Teva represents a significant portion of the Star Wars universe. The realities of galactic politics, the struggles of Law and Order forces working in the galaxy's fringe areas, the aftermath of the war, and the upcoming challenges ushering in with the rising of the First Order, all add to the depth of Teva's character.
