Vandor

Planets

Vandor is a planet in the Star Wars universe first introduced in the film "Solo: A Star Wars Story." The snowy, mountainous locked world is located in the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories, and is less-civilized than the Core Worlds. Vandor is a part of Akkadese Maelstrom, surrounded by a cluster of black holes making it a difficult and dangerous destination for travelers.

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Vandor was a participant in Imperial trade routes, hinting at an occupied or controlled status by the Empire. The planet is most prominently known for the coaxium mines operated by the Pyke Syndicate, a criminal organization deeply rooted in the spice trade.

The planet features prominently in "Solo: A Star Wars Story" as it is here that main characters, Han Solo and Chewbacca first team up with career criminals Tobias Beckett and his gang. Villa, a snow-covered city, is one of the known settlements on the planet, with Fort Ypso being a central and prominent feature where card games, commerce, and cups of warm spotchka are quite common.

Fort Ypso, in particular, stands out for its lodge, which was established by a group of traders that predates Imperial law in the sector. Furthermore, the Lodge at Fort Ypso is the location where Han Solo wins the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian in a game of sabacc.

Enfys Nest's Cloud-Riders confront the crew on the 20-T Railcrawler Conveyex vehicle in a high-speed raid to lift the refined coaxium haul, making Vandor the site of a big action set piece in the film. The atmosphere assumes a grim note due to Vandor's lack of sunlight, the towering peaks, and the fact that it is a planet filled with thieves and smugglers.

Vandor is a relatively obscure planet in the Star Wars universe, but it managed to etch its place in the franchise's lore with its introduction in "Solo: A Star Wars Story." From hosting one of the turning points in Han Solo's life to being the site of a major action sequence, Vandor plays a significant role in the broader Star Wars narrative.
