Ryloth, also known as Twi`lek, is a significant planet in the Star Wars universe. It is the homeworld of the Twi`lek species, a humanoid race with distinctive head-tails called lekku. Ryloth is located in the Outer Rim Territories, in the Gaulus sector, and is the third planet of the Ryloth system.
The planet has a unique rotation pattern; it is tidally locked to its star, which means that one side of the planet is always facing the sun, while the other side is in perpetual darkness. This results in two extreme environments: a scorching day side called the Bright Lands, and a cold night side called the Nightlands. The Twi`leks inhabit a narrow habitable zone known as the Twi`lek Dawnlands, located along the terminator line between the two extreme regions.
Ryloth is rich in a valuable mineral called ryll, a potent spice with medicinal properties. However, the planet`s wealth has also made it a target for exploitation. Throughout its history, Ryloth has been subjected to various forms of subjugation, including enslavement of the Twi`lek people and occupation by forces such as the Hutt Cartel and the Galactic Empire.
The planet has appeared in various Star Wars media, including TV series like "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels," as well as novels, comics, and video games. Ryloth`s landscape is characterized by rocky terrain, canyons, and caves, which serve as natural hiding places for the Twi`lek resistance and other groups fighting against their oppressors.
