Osi Sobeck

Osi Sobeck is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe, first introduced in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. Voiced by actor James Arnold Taylor, Sobeck serves as the warden of the Citadel, a feared prison complex on the planet Lola Sayu. The Citadel, which had been transformed into a prison for Jedi during The Clone Wars, is under the tight control of Sobeck and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

A ruthless and cunning Phindian male, Sobeck is characterized by his sadistic pleasure in torturing his prisoners, especially Jedi and clone troopers. His violent and unpredictable nature make him a feared figure. Despite his position, Sobeck is highly fearful and dreads the wrath of Count Dooku, a high-ranking Sith Lord and his de facto superior, hence striving continually to prevent any prisoner escape.

In the series, Sobeck plays a pivotal role in the Citadel arc of The Clone Wars' third season, in which he attempts to prevent Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, his Padawan Ahsoka Tano, and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi from rescuing Jedi Master Even Piell and Captain Wilhuff Tarkin from the prison. His unchecked brutality ends up costing him dearly in a climactic confrontation.

Sobeck’s death occurs at the hands of Ahsoka Tano, when she successfully stabs him while he attempts to kill Captain Tarkin and kill her. Despite this, his character remains an embodiment of the unrelenting hostility and mercilessness of the Separatist Alliance throughout the Clone Wars.

While his on-screen appearance is relatively brief, the character of Osi Sobeck has left a lasting impact on fans of the series, primarily because of his malicious and sadistic personality, as well as his unique design which makes him stand out as one of the memorable antagonists of the series.
