Locations

The Mako-Ta Space Docks, formally known as the Mako-Ta Chantho Sky Yards, is a significant site in the Star Wars universe. Featured prominently in the novel "Last Shot" by Daniel Jose Older, these space docks are located in the Outer Rim, specifically in the galaxy's Nilgaard sector. The docks were specially designed and constructed for the building and maintenance of starships, which made it a critical infrastructure site in that galaxy.

The Mako-Ta Space Docks rose to prominence during the Rebellion, when they were used heavily by the Rebel Alliance. It served as the place where Rebel ships could retreat to for repair, refitting, or refuelling - all activities that were vital for the survival and continued effort of the Rebels in their fight against the Galactic Empire. Notably, the Mako-Ta was the site where the Mon Calamari built their first ever capital ships for the Rebellion.

With its significant role in the Rebels' struggle for survival, the Mako-Ta inevitably drew the attention of the Galactic Empire. A space battle took place at the docks, featured in the book "Last Shot". It saw the Rebels pitted against the Empire, as the Empire sought to disrupt the efforts of the Rebellion and their activities at the Mako-Ta. The shipyards were severely damaged during this encounter.

Though not as well-known as other Star Wars locales such as the Death Star or Tatooine, the Mako-Ta Space Docks are nevertheless an integral part of the Star Wars universe. They symbolize the resilience and resourcefulness of the Rebel Alliance in the face of overwhelming odds, and their contribution to the success of the Rebellion should not be understated. Its inclusion in the novel "Last Shot" serves to expand the universe's lore and deepen our understanding of the resourcefulness and fortitude of the Rebel Alliance.
