Lux Bonteri

Characters

Lux Bonteri was a significant character introduced in the Star Wars animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Born in Planet Onderon's capital city, Iziz, Lux was the son of Mina Bonteri, a senator, and representative of the planet in the Separatist Congress during The Clone Wars. His father was named in the series as an officer who had died in a battle against clone troopers on Aargonar.

Lux grew up having a political career mapped out for him due to his mother's influence. When his mother was assassinated, he blamed the Galactic Republic and, therefore, temporarily became a pro-separatist. Contrary to the stereotype, Lux was shown as a peace-loving character who desired an end to the conflict between the Republic and the Separatists. In different instances throughout the series, he could be seen advocating for peace talks and negotiations.

Lux developed a unique bond with Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker's Padawan, with whom he shared a complicated relationship. Although initially they found themselves at opposing ends, their interactions throughout the series showcased an evolving bond that hinted beyond a friendship. Nevertheless, their different life paths did not allow for the flourishing of a romantic relationship.

After his mother's assassination, Lux discovered that it was Dooku, the Separatist leader, who was responsible for her death. This revelation turned Lux against the Separatists. Throughout the series, Lux could be seen taking on multiple roles, such as a freedom fighter, an insurgent, and, for a brief time, a member of the notorious Death Watch, making his character arc intriguing and unpredictable.

In Lux's journey on Onderon, he played an instrumental role along with Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, and his group in liberating his homeworld from the control of the Separatists. This victory gained him a lot of popularity, leading to his eventual rise as an influential politician and leader. By the end of the series, he was portrayed as a loyal servant of the very same Republic he had once blamed for his personal losses.

Lux Bonteri proved to be a well-rounded character, however, due to the many diverse and contrasting roles he played throughout Star Wars: The Clone Wars. His evolution allowed the viewers to see various aspects and complexities of the Star Wars universe, making him a memorable character in the series.
