Jaro Tapal

Characters

Jaro Tapal, a character from the Star Wars universe, is a steadfast and wise Lasat Jedi Master who made his first appearance in the 2019 video game "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order," developed by Respawn Entertainment. Having fought during the waning days of The Clone Wars, Tapal is best known as the Jedi Master of Padawan Cal Kestis and a pivotal figure in shaping the protagonist's development.

Tapal, a man of imposing stature standing well over two meters tall, is known for his physical strength which is enhanced by his mastery of The Force. With his distinctive Lasat features such as his fur-covered body, clawed digits, and facial whiskers, Tapal cuts an imposing figure. His weapon of choice is a double-bladed blue lightsaber, a characteristic Jedi melee weapon that he handles with considerable dexterity and skill.

Throughout the Clone Wars, General Tapal served valiantly and was respected by his clone troopers, who distinguished him with a personalized emblem. However, his tenure ended in tragedy amidst Order 66, a tactical command by the Republic that marked all Jedi as traitors to be exterminated. During the execution of this order, he managed to protect his Padawan, Cal Kestis, while sacrificing his own life in the process.

The impact of Tapal, however, stretches beyond his on-screen/interactive media appearance. His death fueled Kestis' trauma, guilt, and struggle with survivor's remorse which fundamentally shape the narrative of "Fallen Order". Moreover, he becomes a moral and tactical compass for Kestis during his journey, aiding in both lightsaber fights and meditative moments, strengthening his role as one of the central figures in the legacy and lore of the Star Wars universe.

To conclude, Jaro Tapal is a galvanizing character in the Star Wars saga. Even though his appearance was brief, his influence reaches far. His courage, wisdom, and sacrifice for his Padawan in the face of certain death make him a lasting symbol of the Jedi Order's commitment to peace, justice, and their pupils.
