House Vizsla

House Vizsla is a well-known and influential household in the Star Wars universe. Descendants of Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian ever inducted into the Jedi Order, the house was not just respected but also feared due to their formidable reputation. Tarre Vizsla was the creator of the Darksaber, a unique black-bladed lightsaber which became a symbol of leadership within The Mandalorian culture and even played a part in the leadership selection of the whole clan. Subsequent to his death, the saber was kept in the Jedi temple, but later, members of House Vizsla famously stole the Darksaber and used it to unify the people of Mandalore and consolidate their control.

In the Mandalorian civil war, they served as integral players, leading the Death Watch, a splinter group that opposed the pacifist government of Mandalore. The two Pre Vizsla's we encounter in The Clone Wars series and the Death Watch forces, which in the end, play a large role in the plot. However, after the second Pre Vizsla was betrayed and executed by the former Sith apprentice Maul, the control of the Darksaber and Death Watch slipped away. Following this, House Vizsla went into a steep decline, and the Darksaber was passed on to various other characters, traversing a variety of noble houses.

The most notable portrayal of Vizsla house members in the Star Wars franchise was Pre Vizsla in the animated series, "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," where he voiced by Jon Favreau. The house plays a dominating role in the Mandalorian storylines of both "The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels". The tradition of the Darksaber continues in "The Mandalorian" series where Din Djarin, the titular character, wins the saber and becomes the rightful ruler of Mandalore.
