Garazeb Orrelios

Characters

Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios is a prominent character in the Star Wars franchise, specially recognized in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels. He is a former Honour Guard of the Lasan High Honour Guard and is among the last of the Lasat species, as his home planet Lasan was decimated by the Galactic Empire. Despite his stern appearance, Zeb is known for his humorous personality, being both the muscle and the comic relief of the Ghosh's crew.

Zeb is distinguishably known for his towering figure and purple fur. He carries a Bo-Rifle, a weapon symbolic of the Lasan High Honour Guard. This rifle is unique as it has two modes - a blaster and a staff. Zeb’s personal model which had been pilfered from an Imperial who had dishonourably acquired it restored to Zeb by Kallus, who was the original stealer, marking his turning point.

Due to the destruction of his planet and species, Zeb developed a deep hatred for the Empire, especially for Agent Kallus, who played a direct role in the genocide of Lasan. He showcased this grudge throughout the series; however, it also led to some deep character development, notably when Zeb and Kallus were stranded together on an ice moon in Geonosis' orbit.

Over time, Zeb became a protective and caring figure towards his Ghost crewmates, particularly to the younger members such as Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren. His warrior spirit coupled with his developing sense of responsibility towards his crew showcased his complexity as a character.

By the end of the series, Zeb demonstrated a significant amount of growth as a character, showing forgiveness to his former enemy, Kallus. He even takes Kallus to Lira San, revealing that the Lasat species wasn't wiped out as he previously believed. He had gone from a scarred survivor filled with grudge to a magnanimous proof of recovery and forgiveness.
