Summary of Episode II - The Attack of the Clones

Episode II - The Attack of the Clones is the second installment in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. It was released in 2002 and directed by George Lucas.

The movie takes place 10 years after the events of Episode I and follows Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi (played by Ewan McGregor) and his Padawan apprentice, Anakin Skywalker (played by Hayden Christensen) as they investigate an assassination attempt on Senator Padmé Amidala (played by Natalie Portman). Along the way, they uncover a plot by a former Jedi, Count Dooku (played by Christopher Lee), to create an army of clones to use against the Jedi.

Meanwhile, Anakin begins to fall in love with Padmé, despite the Jedi Order's strict rules against romantic attachments. The two embark on a secret relationship, while Obi-Wan continues to investigate the clone army and eventually discovers that the clones were commissioned by the Jedi themselves, under the guidance of the mysterious Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas.

As the threat of war looms between the Republic and the Separatist Alliance, a massive battle breaks out on the planet Geonosis. Obi-Wan and Anakin are sent to rescue Padmé, who has been captured along with other Jedi by Count Dooku. The three are eventually rescued by an army of Jedi and clone troopers, but not before Obi-Wan faces Dooku in a lightsaber duel and loses his arm.

The movie ends with Padmé and Anakin secretly marrying on the planet Naboo, foreshadowing the tragic events that will unfold in the next movie in the trilogy.
