Dug

The Dug species is a sentient mammalian species in the Star Wars universe, most famously represented by the character Sebulba who featured prominently in The Phantom Menace movie. Found on the planet Malastare, the Dugs are distinguished by their unique physical form which is characterized by upper limbs that are used for locomotion and lower limbs that function as arms. This unusual feature enables them to walk on their hands while their feet are freed up to handle objects.

While they can be found across various locations in the galaxy, the Dugs are particularly concentrated in urban areas on their home planet of Malastare where they primarily work in the fuel and mining sectors. Known for their bad temper and aggressive behavior, the Dugs have a reputation for being menacing. However, despite their generally negative image, the Dugs’ remarkable agility and fast reflexes make them excellent podracer pilots, a capability that has given the species a certain amount of standing in the galaxy.
