Dooku Captured is the eleventh episode of the first season of the hit animated television series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It originally aired on January 2, 2009, and was directed by Jesse Yeh and written by Julie Siege. The episode follows the arduous pursuit and eventual capture of Count Dooku by Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, forcing them to work together in order to escape from their captors.
The episode begins with Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi receiving a message that Count Dooku, the Sith Lord responsible for much of the discord during the Clone Wars, is on the notorious planet Vanqor. The Jedi quickly find his ship and engage in a fierce lightsaber duel, eventually defeating and capturing him. However, their victory is short-lived as their ship is attacked by pirate forces led by Hondo Ohnaka.
During the skirmish, Count Dooku manages to gain control of Anakin's lightsaber while Hondo's forces disable their ship. However, Obi-Wan and Anakin use an escape pod and crash-land on Florrum, Hondo's base of operations. Dooku is also captured by Hondo's crew and, in a surprising turn of events, the Sith Lord is forced to work together with the Jedi to plot their escape from the pirates.
Meanwhile, Hondo attempts to sell the captive Count Dooku to the Republic for a hefty ransom. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and Jedi Master Yoda discuss the opportunity, but Yoda senses potential danger in the events unfolding on Florrum. Regardless, the Republic agrees to pay the ransom, sending Senator Kharrus and Representative Jar Jar Binks to deliver the payment to Hondo.
As the captives plot their escape, Anakin and Dooku ingratiate themselves with the pirates through a series of dangerous challenges, testing their skills and cunning. Despite facing adversity and betrayal, the Jedi and Sith eventually form an uneasy alliance in order to survive the ordeal and escape from their captors.
As the episode comes to a close, the ransom party arrives on Florrum, and Jar Jar accidentally causes a commotion that leads to chaos between the pirates and the Republic forces. Anakin and Obi-Wan eventually regain their lightsabers and confront Hondo, who exclaims that the Jedi are no longer his prisoners but are now his enemies.
Dooku Captured serves as an excellent example of the complex character interactions and unpredictable storylines that were a hallmark of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series. It demonstrates how the lines between good and evil can become blurred in times of conflict, and the importance of working together in order to overcome obstacles.
