Clone Commando

Clone Commandos, officially called Republic Commandos and also referred to as Clone Special Unit, were elite soldiers of the Grand Army of the Republic during The Clone Wars. Engineered and trained to be superior to regular clone troops, Clone Commandos were one of the most effective military units in the Republic’s arsenal. They carried out special operations which required stealth, efficiency, and a wide variety of skills seldom found among regular clone troopers.

The Clone Commandos were grown and developed in the cloning chambers of Kamino, like all Clone Troopers. However, they received advanced training and rigorous conditioning under one of the 100 training sergeants of the Cuy'val Dar, a group of 75 Mandalorians and 25 members of other species, who were personally chosen by Jango Fett. This group trained the commandos in Mandalorian combat tactics and culture, making them some of the most formidable soldiers in the galaxy.

Clone Commandos typically operated in squads of four, with each commando often specializing in a unique role such as sniper, hacker, or demolitions. They were renowned for their strength, intelligence and loyalty, making them perfect for high risk missions. The commandos were equipped with Katarn-class Commando Armor, DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System, and variety of other weapons, explosives and tools, which allowed them to adapt to a wide array of missions and circumstances.

During the Clone Wars, Clone Commandos participated in many essential missions, including Operation Knightfall under the direct command of Darth Vader. After the Clone Wars, many Clone Commandos were used by the Galactic Empire for its special operations unit known as the Imperial Commando Special Unit. However, some Clone Commandos refused to serve the Empire and deserted. Others joined the Rebellion, aiding in the efforts to overthrow the Empire.

Clone Commandos represented the pinnacle of the Clone Army, displaying unmatched combat prowess, strategic brilliance, and devotion to their mission and one another. They left an enduring legacy within the Star Wars universe, symbolizing not just the military might of the Republic, but also the cost and ethical complications of biological warfare.
