The Bendu is a powerful entity in the Star Wars universe first introduced in the third season of the animated Star Wars: Rebels series. He is a force-sensitive entity who represents the center of The Force, a philosophical aspect outside the traditional dark and light sides. The character gives his name, Bendu, to the monastic order known as the Jedi Bendu, of which the Jedi are a splinter group.

Living in solitude on the remote world of Atollon, the Bendu was known for his wisdom and knowledge of the force. He was neither Sith nor Jedi, but an entity in the middle who embodied balance. His abilities allowed him to interact and commune with all living creatures and objects through the force. He also had the ability to experience visions of the future, a skill he shared with other powerful force-sensitive individuals.

The Bendu's neutral position made him an unwavering believer of balance, accepting both the light and dark sides of the force. This marked a stark contrast to the Jedi, who embraced the light, and the Sith, who reveled in the dark. However, his pursuit of balance did not stop him from assisting those in need, like the rebel crew of The Ghost, whom he helped understand and control new-found powers.

He valued teaching and offering guidance to those who seek knowledge of the force. During his time with the crew of the Ghost, Kanan Jarrus, and his apprentice, Ezra Bridger benefitted from Bendu's teachings. His lessons often revolved around understanding all aspects of the force, separating him from the teaching methods of the Jedi and the Sith.

The Bendu disappeared during an Imperial attack on Atollon, using his powers to create a massive storm to defend against the invasion. His disappearance leaves his current status unknown. Nonetheless, his influence remains a pivotal part of Star Wars lore, representing a force outside the binary of the Jedi and Sith.
