The Pistoeka Sabotage Droids, more commonly known as buzz droids, are one of the unique creations in the Star Wars universe. They were manufactured by Baktoid Armor Workshop, a company known for creating military droids. Pistoeka sabotage droids made their first significant appearance in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith during the first battle scene.
Considering their relatively small size, these droids are incredibly effective. They were specifically designed for disabling and destroying enemy starships during space combats. With their multiple appendages equipped with all sorts of tools, they could quickly dismantle the exterior of ships or sabotage the onboard systems. They usually spread across an enemy ship in groups, each droid assigned to work on a different part or system of an enemy's ship, which made them horribly effective as saboteurs.
The interesting thing about the Pistoeka Sabotage Droids was their method of deployment. They were stored and launched in small missile-like pods fired from a Separatist Droid Starfighters or capital ships. The missiles would latch onto a target ship and break open to release the Buzz Droids. Deployed in this manner, the droids could swarm an enemy vessel in a matter of moments, leaving the ship's pilot to deal with the sudden catastrophic failure of their systems.
Buzz Droids are not just tools but sentient beings that communicate in a high-pitched, quick-tempo droid language. They were programmed to complete their tasks, and then self-destruct to avoid capture and reverse-engineering. This lack of self-preservation instinct made them relentless in their destructive tasks, causing chaos and damage before destroying themselves.
In terms of design, Pistoeka Sabotage Droids appear quite menacing. They have a central sphere body, from which several insect-like appendages extend which can unfold to reveal a variety of destructive tools. Their eyes glow red when sabotaging their prey, adding to their intimidating presence.
Pistoeka Sabotage Droids, though small in size, play a significant role in the Star Wars universe. They are a testament to the technological prowess of the Separatists and the lengths they are willing to go to gain victory.
