The Malevolence trilogy is a three-episode storyline featured in the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The story arc centers around the massive Separatist warship Malevolence and the Republic efforts to destroy it.
In the first episode, "Rising Malevolence," Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his apprentice Ahsoka Tano are sent to investigate the disappearance of Republic cruisers. When they discover that the Malevolence is destroying the ships with its massive Ion Cannon, they must find a way to disable it before it can cause further damage. Meanwhile, Padmé Amidala and C-3PO are aboard one of the ships that is under attack.
In the second episode, "Shadow of Malevolence," Anakin and his team work to infiltrate the Malevolence and destroy the ion cannon from within. However, they must first overcome the ship's droid army and a fearsome new weapon - buzz droids that latch onto their ships and dismantle them.
The third and final episode, "Destroy Malevolence," features a full-scale assault on the massive warship by a fleet of Republic ships. Anakin and Ahsoka are tasked with taking out the ship's hyperdrive before it can escape. Meanwhile, Padmé and C-3PO work to sabotage the Malevolence's backup systems. In the end, the Malevolence is destroyed and the Republic prevails.
The Malevolence trilogy is a thrilling addition to the Clone Wars series, showcasing both Jedi heroism and the dangers of Separatist weaponry. It also introduces key characters such as Admiral Yularen and the tactical droid General Grievous, who become important players in later story arcs.
