IG-100 MagnaGuards

Droids

The IG-100 MagnaGuards, also known as General Grievous's bodyguards or MagnaGuard droids, are a series of lethal bodyguard droids designed by Holowan Mechanicals and used heavily during The Clone Wars. They are particularly seen serving under the command of General Grievous, the leader of the Droid Army, hence the nickname. MagnaGuards are known for their combat prowess, agility, and durability, making them formidable opponents even for Jedi Knights.

One of the defining features of the MagnaGuards is their use of the electrostaff, a weapon resistant to lightsabers, adding significantly to the droids combat capabilities and making them a serious threat to the Jedi. The MagnaGuards are programmed with advanced combat techniques and tactics, and their design allows them to continue fighting effectively even after sustaining serious damage, including decapitation.

The IG-100 MagnaGuards stand at roughly 1.95 meters tall, and have humanoid frames but with many robotic features, such as their glowing red eyes and skeletal appearance. Their frame is plated with a matte-gray armor, and they are often depicted cloaked in a cape-like attire, adding to their ominous appearance. They exhibit tremendous speed, strength, and agility in battle, making them effective bodyguards and fighters in a variety of combat scenarios.

MagnaGuard droids, despite being non-sentient, exhibit a level of independence unusual for droids. They are designed to learn from their combat experiences, making them more skilled and adaptable over time. This development, combined with their persistence in combat and the ability to operate even when extremely damaged, lends them an air of relentlessness and menace.

The IG-100 MagnaGuards, while primarily serving General Grievous, were deployed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems throughout the galaxy in various capacities. Their presence on the battlefield was a signal of the importance of the mission or the high rank of the official they were guarding. Their fearsome reputation and combat ability made them one of the most iconic symbols of the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars.
