Coaxium (Hyperfuel)

Coaxium, also known as hyperfuel, is an incredibly valuable and potent starship fuel mined on various planets throughout the galaxy, including Kessel. It powers the hyperdrive systems of Interstellar spacecraft and plays a critical role in enabling these ships to traverse the vastness of space via hyperspace travel. Its great potency and energy yield however, also make it highly volatile and potentially explosive, requiring the utmost care in storage, handling, and transportation.

In its raw, unrefined state, coaxium is bright blue and has a highly unstable, heated nature that makes it a hazardous material. Whenever it is mined, it has to be processed immediately or cooled down to maintain its stability. The unrefined fuel can be used for blasting purposes. Upon refinement, coaxium loses its bright blue color, becomes safer to handle, and is ready to be used in hyperdrives. In the hands of fresh-off the assembly line vessels, as demonstrated by the Millennium Falcon in 'Solo: A Star Wars Story', coaxium can provide a ship with a temporary, but immensely powerful, boost in speed and acceleration, enabling bold maneuverability feats, and instant jumps into hyperspace.
