Cere Junda is a character in the Star Wars universe, who made her first appearance in the video game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. As a former Jedi Knight, Cere serves as not only the mentor and guide to the player's character, Cal Kestis, but she is also a key figure in furthering the game's plot. The character is voiced by actress Debra Wilson and holds an important role in the narrative, as she navigates the challenges that arise from the aftermath of the Great Jedi Purge.
Before her appearance in the game, Cere Junda was a Padawan to Jedi Master Eno Cordova. As a young apprentice, she demonstrated a strong connection to The Force and a fierce dedication to her battles. Cere was eventually promoted to the rank of Jedi Knight. During her tenure as a Jedi, she took on her own Padawan named Trilla Suduri. However, their bond was tested when the Empire's heinous Order 66 came into effect.
The sudden order marked the beginning of the Great Jedi Purge, a dark period in the Star Wars universe, during which almost the entire Jedi Order was wiped out. Sadly, Cere and her Padawan Trilla were separated due to the ensuing chaos. Cere was eventually captured by the Empire and tortured for information regarding the whereabouts of other Jedi. Despite her best efforts, she ultimately gave in and unintentionally betrayed the location of her apprentice, Trilla.
After realizing what she had done, Cere was consumed by guilt and fear. She decided to disconnect herself from The Force and go into hiding. With the remaining Jedi in shambles, the Empire's relentless hunt for survivors was a constant lurking threat.
It's during this dark and chaotic period that Cere Junda's path crosses with that of Cal Kestis, the protagonist of Fallen Order. Cal is a young and resourceful Jedi who has managed to evade the Empire's clutches by hiding his Force sensitivity. He eventually encounters Cere who, along with Greez Dritus, a ship pilot, takes him under her wing. They form a fragile Alliance with one common goal in mind: to rebuild the Jedi Order and restore peace in the galaxy.
Throughout the game, Cere aids Cal in honing his skills with The Force while both of them explore ancient temples and unravel the mysteries of the ancient Zeffo civilization. As their adventures go on, Cal learns more about the troubled past of his mentor - how Cere and Trilla were separated, and how Trilla has now become an Inquisitor for the Empire, known as the second sister.
The journey of Cere Junda is one of redemption and atonement, slowly piecing together her fragmented past and rising above the fear and guilt that once consumed her. Cere's character arc highlights the importance of overcoming failure, as well as the power of redemption and the resilience of the human spirit.
