The Age of Republic: Jango Fett is a one-shot comic book issue, part of the Star Wars: Age of Republic comic series published by Marvel Comics. It was written by Jody Houser and illustrated by Luke Ross, featuring the iconic bounty hunter Jango Fett, the genetic template for the Grand Army of the Republic, during the era before The Clone Wars.
The comic's storyline takes place between the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Jango Fett is depicted as a feared and skilled bounty hunter, who is raising and training his cloned son, Boba Fett. The main plot follows Jango Fett as he undertakes dangerous missions across the galaxy.
At the beginning of the story, we find Jango Fett on the planet Kamino, where the cloning process is taking place. He has a meeting with the Kaminoans, who are in charge of the cloning production, and they share their concerns about the clone troopers' progress. Jango gives them his assurance that he will make sure they are the best soldiers the galaxy has ever seen.
On a mission with his son Boba, Jango Fett encounters an old acquaintance, A'Sharad Hett, a former Jedi turned bounty hunter. They form an uneasy alliance to capture the wanted criminal, Ravo, who is hiding in a local cantina. A tense confrontation takes place, resulting in Ravo's capture and the relationship between Jango and A'Sharad remaining strained.
Jango Fett later encounters another bounty hunter, Zam Wesell, who seeks his assistance in capturing a notorious gang leader, Grummgar. Together with Zam, Jango infiltrates the gang's lair and eliminates Grummgar, but not without earning the treachery of Zam, who attempts to double-cross him. Jango outsmarts Zam and leaves her to face the consequences of her betrayal.
Throughout the comic, Jango Fett's character is depicted as focused, ruthless, and cunning, demonstrating the qualities that make him an ideal candidate for the clone army's template. As a key figure in the rise of the Empire, Jango Fett's actions and decisions in the Age of Republic have significant impact on the larger Star Wars narrative.
Age of Republic: Jango Fett offers a glimpse into the life of one of the most notorious bounty hunters in the Star Wars universe during a time when the galaxy is on the brink of conflict. Readers gain insight into Jango's relationships, his values, and his role in the creation of the clone army, adding depth and context to his character's legacy.
