The Age of Rebellion is a pivotal time period in the Star Wars universe. It is the era that the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) is set in, and it spans from around 0 BBY (Before The Battle of Yavin) to 5 ABY (After The Battle of Yavin). The era is characterized by the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire, a ruthless, totalitarian regime led by Emperor Palpatine, and the Rebel Alliance, a guerrilla faction composed of various species and planets wishing to restore the democratic rule of the old Galactic Republic.

The conflict commences with the Rebel Alliance's theft of schematics for the Empire's superweapon, the Death Star, leading to its destruction in the Battle of Yavin. The era is marked by several key incidents, like the "Battle of Hoth", and wraps up with the "Battle of Endor". In the Battle of Endor, the Rebels manage to inflict a decisive blow by not only destroying another Death Star but also killing Emperor Palpatine. Such victory leads to the disintegration of the Empire and the establishment of the New Republic. The Rebellion's chief heroes during this era include Princess Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo.
