Seelos

Planets

Seelos is a remote desert planet located in the Outer Rim Territories. Its feature is characterized mainly by dunes, sand storms and rocky outcrops. It was first introduced in the Star Wars universe during the second season of the animated television series Star Wars Rebels. The planet often portrayed in a reddish-orange hue to reflect its arid and harsh desert-like environment, provides not just a unique backdrop, but also a rich cornerstone for the exploration of lore.

In terms of inhabitants, Seelos is home to several fascinating creatures. The most notable of these are the Joopas, massive species of sand worms that dwell beneath the surface of Seelos. These creatures are used by the planet's inhabitants for gathering and consumption of energy, further adding to Seelos' exotic wilderness.

The planet Seelos also holds an important place in the Star Wars timeline. Towards the end of The Clone Wars, a group of retired Clone Troopers known as 'The Clone Commandos' took residence in an old modified AT-TE walker on Seelos. This walkers serves as both a habitat and a vehicle for them to navigate the tough terrains of the planet.

Seelos became a critical location in Star Wars Rebels when main characters of the show, including Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus, journeyed to the planet to find the retired clone troopers. The troopers, namely Captain Rex, Wolffe and Gregor, while initially cautious, later joined the Rebel Alliance to oppose the reign of the Galactic Empire.

Moreover, Seelos was evocatively depicted in a significant battle between the retired clone troopers and the Imperial forces. This culminated in a showdown between the AT-ATs of the Imperial Army and the AT-TE of the clone troopers, which showcased the ingenious military strategy of the troopers and their unmatched synergy that was born and honed during the Clone Wars.

Lastly, the planet of Seelos not only showcases the diversity of Star Wars planetary ecosystems, but significantly builds onto the overarching narrative by reintroducing pivotal Star Wars characters. While providing a distinctive setting with its desert landscape and unique fauna, the planet also plays an integral role within the larger Star Wars mythos, including bringing clone troopers back into the spotlight.
