Risso

The Risso is a species in the Star Wars universe that first appeared in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth film in the Skywalk saga. Being a species of aquatic sentients, Rissos have an aquatic nature that makes them perfectly adapted to oceanic worlds. They hail from the Glee Anselm planet, a diverse aquatic and marshy world with very little landmass, situated in the Mid Rim of the galaxy. The native Rissos have developed a mix of aquatic and amphibious traits that enable them to thrive in such environments.

Rissos have a distinct physical appearance. They are characterized by their squid-like bodies and elongated heads, with two pairs of tentacle-like appendages framing their mouths. They have sea-green skin tones with spots dotting their bodies. They have large, bulbous eyes capable of nocturnal vision, a common adaptation in deep-sea creatures. This species is known to be gregarious and social, seen interacting with various characters in the films. While they are a minor species in the Star Wars universe, they largely contribute to the galactic diversity that the franchise is known for.
