Polis Massa

The Polis Massa is an asteroid field located in the Outer Rim Territories of the Star Wars galaxy mentioned in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. It was originally a planet and home to the Eellayin civilization. However, a mysterious cataclysm in the distant past caused the planet to shatter, leaving only the remnants of a broken world and a scattering of asteroids in its place.

By the time of the Galactic Republic, the Polis Massa had become an archaeological research station managed by the Polis Massans, a mysterious species of mute aliens. Apart from their work in excavating and studying the remnants of the Eellayin civilization, Polis Massa is best known as the place where Padmé Amidala gave birth to Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa and subsequently died. It is also where Darth Vader was reconstituted into a Cyborg by Emperor Palpatine. The station remained an important place during the Galactic Civil War, frequently serving as a battlefield between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire.
