Haruun Kal

Haruun Kal is a planet located in the Dustig sector of the Mid Rim in the Star Wars universe. It is known as the homeworld of the human natives known as the Korunnai, who are force-sensitive humans descended from stranded Jedi. The planet is famously known from the 'Star Wars' literature, especially the novel 'Shatterpoint,' where Mace Windu, himself born on Haruun Kal, returns to find his former Padawan Depa Billaba.

Geographically, Haruun Kal consists mostly of molten rock and mountainous terrain. The world is dominated by a continent-wide jungle known as Pelek Baw, which is engulfed perpetually by violent electrical storms. The habitable part lies in 'The Highlands,' a region above the cloud layers, where floating plateaus called 'cloud-houses' form the living areas.

The planet is known for 'akkle,' a species of insects that serve as a source of food for the Korunnai, and the 'grassers,' giant herbivores that the Korunnai ride. Haruun Kal's ecosystem and environment are unique, with vegetation like vine-snakes and razorgrass that pose a constant threat, making survival a continuous struggle.
