The Devaronians are a humanoid species recognized easily by their distinct horned heads and sharp teeth. They originate from the Outer Rim world of Devaron, a planet of low mountains and deep valleys linked by kilometers of meandering, rapid rivers. This species is predominantly male-dominant, and their culture’s gender roles are heavily marked, with males being driven by a desire for adventure and wanderlust, and females being tasked with roles of governance and raising offspring.
One of the starkest distinctions in the devil-like appearance of Devaronians is their skin color; males are usually red, while females have relatively pale complexions. Another divergence between males and females is in physical appearance, as females lack the sharp teeth and horns that are so commonly associated with the species. The males are often away from their home planet for years for trade or other exploratory ventures. Devaronians are known to have adopted early space travel technology which helped them to establish trade routes and be one of the first species to venture into the wider galaxy.
Devaronians are known for a unique adaptability which means they can eat and digest nearly anything, and their bodies are resistant to many toxins. Their planet is known for the ancient temple, also referred to as the Temple of Eedit, which was once a sacred place for the Jedi Order. The planet was eventually invaded and the temple was destroyed by the Sith during The Clone Wars.
One notable Devaronian in the Star Wars universe is Cikatro Vizago, a crime lord operating on Lothal. Another high-profile Devaronian is Kardue'sai'Malloc, who was seen in the Mos Eisley Cantina in Star Wars: A New Hope.
