Dantooine

Dantooine is a fictional planet in the Star Wars universe. Known for its lush landscapes, open fields, and bright blue skies, it is comparable to earth in many ways. Dantooine is noted to be a rural and rustic world, unspoiled by extensive development or technological interference. This remote planet located within the Outer Rim Territories, far from the influence of major industrialized systems, served as a perfect hideaway for the Jedi Academy and the Rebel Base at different times.

In "Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic", the planet was portrayed as having a large Jedi Enclave used for training Jedi and acted as a base of operations. However, the location was abandoned after the Sith Lord, Darth Malak, bombarded it. In "A New Hope," Princess Leia lies to Grand Moff Tarkin about the location of the Rebel base, directing the Empire to Dantooine, which by that time, was already abandoned. It is described as being too remote to make a suitable demonstration of the Death Star's power. Dantooine also makes a couple of appearances in the Star Wars expanded universe stories.
