Bastion

Planets

The Bastion, originally known as Sartinaynian, is a prominent site in the Star Wars universe, which serves primarily as a planetary fortress of the Imperial Remnant. It was once a hub for computer manufacturers, but during the Galactic Civil War, it evolved into a key defensive position for the Imperial forces. Known for its formidable defenses, The Bastion was virtually impenetrable, housing both a gigantic planetary shield and a large contingent of the Imperial Fleet, thus ensuring its survival throughout a number of galactic conflicts.

As the de-facto capital of the Imperial Remnant, The Bastion was also the seat of the Imperial Ruling Council and the residence of Head of State Jagged Fel, a key figure in the Expanded Universe of Star Wars. During the Sith-Imperial War, The Bastion was essentially held hostage by the forces of the Sith; however, it was reclaimed by the Empire following the conclusion of the war. Throughout its history, The Bastion has consistently been a symbol of the enduring might of the Empire, despite numerous challenges and setbacks.

Yet its reputation as an unassailable fortress was finally broken during the Second Galactic Civil War, when it was captured by the forces of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. Despite this significant blow, The Bastion continued to feature prominently in later Star Wars lore, serving variously as a bargaining chip, a symbol of might or resistance, and a key strategic point in the ongoing conflicts of the Galaxy.

Beyond its military and political significance, The Bastion is also known for its appearance. It’s frequently depicted as a world heavily fortified with metallic constructs and imposing infrastructure, underscoring its status as a virtually impervious stronghold and a center of the Imperial power structure.
